does anyone else think that hydrocodone or vicodin is like the crappiest pain killer they ever made i mean?

Question:
they should sell that junk over the counter why is it even considered a narcotic

Answers:
When I've tried it, it did nothing for me either. But it really affects people differently- i've seen it help some friends.

If you need a good painkiller, see if your dr. will prescribe percocet. My friend got 3rd degree burn and he said the percocet helps.

I have also been helped best by Motrin 800 when i had mastoiditis (infection of the mastoid, the bone behind your ear- my left side was like the elephant man, it was so swollen and throbbing, unbearable)

Other Answers:
perhaps you should get a stronger analgesic. you need it.

I think Vicodin works well for pain (i used it after i got some wisdom teeth pulled) and it was addictive. I'm sure it's being abused by alot of people. No!! its great . well I've never took it for actual pain but it's great to drink with and for hangovers too.

Because it is a narcotic. I am not sure how you feel, but when I had to take vicodin (broken leg) I was really-really under influence, should I say. And it is a good pain killer. Maybe they are weak for your organism?

No, it should not be sold over the counter. I am on Vicodin right now for back pain and it knocks the heck out of me. I know I would not be safe to drive a car or do important things. I am even having one heck of a time typing this, have to keep trying to get it right. I have taken Vicodin several times, over the years and it always affects me hard. Unless you take it all the time, every day and are addicted to it and have built up an resistance to it, then it should still affect you too. Abuse of it and addiction of it can make it to where it doesn't affect you much. I know a gal who is addicted to percoset and she takes two at a time, about every three hours. She just gets a buzz off them. Most people would be knocked unconscious by that kind of dose.

Because it has a narcotic added to it and it is very addictive as well. It takes awhile to become addicted, depends on how much is consumed on a daily basis and for how long you take this medication. It also depends on the strength of the vicodin, - (hydrocodone). I will add that it depends on which company makes it as well, pharmacists don't agree with me, but it is true, some companies don't make it well or lack quality control. Even though it is addictive, it is the most safest pain control to be taken over a long period of time, or for some people that will have to take pain med for the rest of their lives. If it don't work for you, then you must tell the doctor. Some doctors are very anal about it and some are cool, as long as the doctor knows you and trusts you. The government is creating a database of people that have multiple prescriptions of Vicodin and, or Oxicodone so they can get busted. Oxcicodone will also stop being made in a year or 2, or be limited for hospital use only. I knew a lady who took oxcicodone for years and she just stoped taking it and she got herself in big trouble with the withdraws and had to be taken to the hospital. So now she was prescribed the vicodin and is happy that she is off the morphine,( oxcicodone). She was flakey and I never knew why until she told me. She says that the vicodin is helping her so much and she can actually balance her checkbook now, it takes care of the pain and she can function. Some folks that take Vicodin,( hydrocodone), take more than prescribed and get themselves in trouble, they try to see other doctors and get caught and thrown in jail, yes, it is against the law, then they go through withdrawls in jail. I heard some horror stories about these things and read it in the paper.. Why do you think it is a crappy pain reliever? No, I don't agree with you, never should be sold over the counter. Also some people that take this medication over a long period of time get used to it, the body buikds up an immunity to it, so at that time the doctor should be notified so a person can be switched to a different medication or a different dosage. What cracks me up are idiots try to buy this over the internet and it don't have anything in it, just tylenol. I Can't top that lengthy well informed answer on top of my answer, but I can tell you my wife, who is no pilll taker, took it after a car accident and says it really works. You are right about different brands and quality control, my wife got no relief from some brands. Geeeeeze, they should never sell it over the counter. That is wrong! It is definitly a narcotic and must be regulated. Try a different brand IF YOU REALLY NEED IT!
