any suggestions for alternaitve therapies to help with severe pain from endometriosis?
Question:
thanks for your help.
Answers:
I know you mentioned surgery, but have you had excision?
See www.centerforendo.com and www.endometriosistreatment.org for information from expert Endo specialists who solely excise the disease from all locations. Their success rates for long-term relief are around 80% or so - once *truly* removed recurrence is rare.
You can also try diet - there is a great book by Dian Shepperson Mills called "Endometriosis: Healing Through Nutrition" which will be enormously beneficial if you wish to go that route. You can also try a pain management specialist, who will work with you to personalize a regimen that is right for your case. Other herbs, alternatives, etc. are also available, although none are curative - but they may all help to relieve some of the worst symptoms.
I recommend getting evaluated by a true specialist such as those at the links above. They can be very helpful in helping you decide which route to take. Hysterectomy, pregnancy, menopause, medical suppression are not cures either and no sense subjecting yourself to treatments that may harm instead of help.
Do check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erc/ for info and support as well. Good luck no matter what you decide. Feel better soon.
hysterectomy is an option....
