How can you be born cross-eyed?
Answers:
It is an eye disorder called Strabismus or possibly amblyopia, an eye condition in which one eye is not used enough for the visual system in the brain to develop properly and often inherited. One eye is looking in different direction than the other.
If the eye are not operated on by or before age 3, the brain will turn off the eye sight to one eye thus causing blindness in one eye. I had the operation, my sister did not..and she is blind in one eye.
Strabismus is a vision problem in which both eyes do not look at the same point at the same time. Strabismus most often begins in early childhood. It is sometimes called "cross-eyes," "walleye," or "squint."
Normally, the muscles surrounding each eye work together to move both eyes in the same direction at the same time. Strabismus occurs when the eye muscles do not work properly to control eye movement. When the eye muscles do not work correctly, the eyes may become misaligned, and the brain may not be able to merge the two images.
Childhood strabismus often has no known cause, although it tends to run in families.
