Can you tell me what I can do to releive my ringing in my ears(tinnitus)?

Question:
I have suffered from ringing in the ears for many years and would like to find some medication to mask the noise.

Answers:
Zinc 50 mgs. However if it is due to sinus problems this probably won't work

Other Answers:
ask your dr.

Whenever my weight goes up, I get ringing in my ears. I'm not a doctor, but I've noticed that the ringing goes away whenever I get regular exercise and get down to a proper weight. If you are overweight, this could be something worth trying. Are you taking any medication that will cause ringing in the ears, like aspirin? Nothing will stop it.

Since you have had tinnitus for many years I am going to assume that it has its roots from exposure to loud noises. Loud noises like lawn equipment, vacuum cleaners, loud movie theaters, rock concerts, and ear pods can and will cause nerve damage. This damage is irreversible and is the most common cause of tinnitus. There is no cure, but if I am correct about your exposure to loud noise, the best thing you can do is to protect the hearing you have left. Wear hearing protection when you expect to be exposed to loud noises, or risk further damage. It may help at night to play a radio at a low volume to help mask the noise.

Have you tried chiropractic adjustment? When I get tinnitus I know it's time to go to my chiropractor. I've had some whiplash injuries, and when my neck gets out of adjustment, it makes static noise in my ears.

There is no cure at present. The ringing gets worse when you have a cold or flu and there just isn't anything that will make it go away. If you try to not think about it, sometimes that helps to tune it out. Good luck!
