5 HTP is an herb that helps increase serotonin levels in the body. 5 HTP may be helpful with stress, depression, migraine headaches, insomnia, obesity and chronic fatigue. The recommend dosage for depression is 200mg. It works the same as an anti-depressant (SSRI) but without any side effect since it is an all natural herbal supplement.

Bingo!!

There was a recent study that showed St Johns Wart to be more effective than the prescription meds! And it have very rare side effects!

Also, depression isn't a "cured by a pill" type disorder, counseling may be in order as well. Just something to think about....(I've been there)

Depression is just really about whats going on in your life. There's no magic pill or "remedy" to cure it. You cant just "cure" it. If things aren't going good in your life, something has to change. And nobody's going to hold your hand to help you, you just have to do it yourself, try to make your life better. Geez, try going to church or something. You know what to do.
take natrum muraticum IM once 2 days after full moon. it will help a lot but dont repeat...it is the best remedy . also for broken hearts.

Hard labor intensive work and responsibility. The individuals that work very labor intensive jobs and have loved ones to care for don't have the luxury of getting depressed.
A COUPLE OF THE PEOPLE ANSWERING (P.& N.) THIS QUESTION NEED TO DO MORE READING ON THE SUBJECT. SEVER DEPRESSION IS A CHEMICAL IMBALANCE IN THE BRAIN AND ANTI-DEPRESSANTS HELP TO RECONECT THOSE PARTS IN THE BRAIN. I HAVE NOT KNOWN ANY DR. THAT PERSCRIBED AN ANTI-DEPRESSANT AND DIDN'T SUGEST SEEING A PSYCOLIGIST ALSO. AS FAR AS SLAMING YOUR HAND IN THE CAR DOOR......GO SUCK ON A ROCK!
I took antidepressants for over 30 years.....Started taking DHEA 150mg (available over the counter) and after six months am off Effexor(antidepressant) and have never felt better in my life. There is alot of information to be found on the web regarding DHEA, there is a good book, called "The Stress Cure", I suggest you do some research and decide for yourself.
I've been seeking relief from depression all my life. I've used lots

of "remedies" for treating my depression and all have worked, on

and off, to varying degrees. I've used herbs, cleanses, healthy foods, alcohol, drugs, psychiatry, prayer, meditation ,exercise anti-depressants..and the list goes on. I have what's called clinical depression (chemical imbalance etc.) and it's not due to situations in life, but an organic disorder in my brain. If you have this type of depression, there are often other annoying characteristics that accompany it. Paranoia, anxiety, exhaustion, problems with sleep, problems with food, problems with sex, etc. All these symptoms aggrivate each other in a way that becomes so complicated that it seems impossible to sort it all out. In fact, it IS impossible without help...please don't let others well meaning advice ADD to your depression like...."It will pass" or "just get over it" or "just think possitive thoughts"....because the answer is not that simple.
The best well meaning phrase is "deal with it". Because it's HOW you deal with it that is important. I've read hundreds of books on the subject, tried almost that many combinations of anti-depressant perscription drugs and here's what I've "proven " (you asked for proof) for myself. The most helpful book so far has been Balance Your Brain Balance Your Life by Dr. Jay Lombard and Dr. Christian Renna. It helped me realize that I was NOT crazy and that there are ALOT of helpful alternatives to psychiatry and medication. AND the most helpful remedy Iv'e found is exactly that...an homeopathic remedy. I recommend you find an homeopath, take the interview, and let them come up with the remedy that will best suit you. I started out with Aurum and am now on Sepia. But those might not be what YOU need. I have not been depressed for almost 2 years now and without depression, it is now possible to do all those other thiings that make life more healthy and enjoyable....like exercise, and eating well, and unburdened sex, etc.
Hope you find what will work for you....and if nothing else know that there IS hope.
Yes. We sell this homeopathic medicine at our spa and it's called ex-stress. It's works great and there are no side effects. I was hesitant on taking it but my anxiety was getting so bad, so I took it and it works fairly quickly and I just pop a pill whenever needed. So there is no need for me to take pills at certain times or whatever. I take a pill as needed.
