Many years ago,my doctor recommended Adolf's - the meat tenderizer found in any grocery store as I have really serious breakouts from poison ivy and poison oak. Just sprinkle some in your hand ,add a bit of water to make a paste and dab it on the spots. It appears to "draw" out the irritants and works surprisingly quickly. It's also cheap!

Note: Poison Ivy if you come in contact with it whether it be on your hand, shoe, sock glove...anything that has touched it MUST be washed immediatley the oils from the plant get on these items and you can contract it from them later so wash them.

i have 3 home remedies..
1) For poison oak or poison ivy use plain table salt. Just wet the infected area and rub it with table salt for fast relief and to stop the spread. Use again if itching doesn't stop after the first application. Usually stops it cold and also stops the spread.
2) Rub the inside of a banana peel on the infected areas.
3) Baking Soda
Water

Make a paste with the baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the skin where poison ivy is. The paste will dry and fall off. As the paste dries, it will help dry up the poison ivy.
oatmeal (cooked) soothes.
