You dont actually have to be "corageous", all you have to do, is 'step back' and look at the situation, and evaluate it to the fullest.
People, will take notice is you are the "calm one" when a crisis happens. If they see you are the "calm in the storm" then they will naturally propogate towards you!
And, you dont have to let them know that your scared out of your wits, all you have to do is think with a logical mind. Take in all the events, permutations that could happen, what may happen with this course, or what may happen with that course of action and THINK!
When you take a few minutes to think, (if given time, providing its not a real emergency), then you will naturally come up with the right solution.
If you dont have the time, then let instincts take over and do what you are trained to do. Some times your body will just do things naturally, if you do it repeadedly, and not even give it a second thought. (Then you know your doing the right thing, when your instincts take over).
The best thing to do, is after a crisis is over, go over it in your mind and relive it a few times, thinking "what could I have done better", and afterwards, you will "do" what you think is the right course of events, for the next time you face the same situation.

One way is to midigate the tension. A good way to do that is exercize. Being courageous takes a decision. There will always be some tension when you go beyond your comfort zone. Good luck with whatever courage you need.
Play some music that psyches you up. If you don't have any, download some from the internetnd load it on your mp3 player. If you don't have one of those . where are you from?

What I always do is imagine an animal that I think of as courageous like a tiger or a dragon, Then I imagine the spirit of the animal inside of me and I take on the attributes of the animal
