You might have Vitiligo. If that is the case those spots will get worse in the sun. Make sure that you put a good sunscreen on. SPF 50 or higher and try to stay out of direct sunlight. Go out when the sun is not super bright. Here is a website that can give you more information.

Contact a spa that does laser treatments and see if they have any procedures that can help.
Check with your doctor to check if it is life-threatning like cancer. You didn't explain what kind of patches you have but it also could be tinea versicolor (fungus on your skin) you can try to rub Nizoral shampoo on it and leave it for 10 minutes everyday for a couple weeks. Some people get spots from going to tanning salons but those go away in less than a year.
Go to dermatologist so they can check sample of your skin under the microscope. It's treatable. If it's vitiligo it's practically impossible to get rid of it(rare cases). Good luck
