I dont know of any perfect rememdy, but the best bet is to make sure the kids arent just sitting there. Like in class, let them get up, walk around, do an activity. thats what helped me thru high school!
for what age group? Some say that if you give a kid a cup of black coffee in morning, or a can of mountain dew it will help for a while because the stimulants (like caffeine and the some of the ADHD drugs) have the opposite effect on someone with true ADHD chemical imbalances. If you're not comfortable with this, you should always talk to a doctor first to get their recommendations.
I had to take my son off ADHD medications once because of a bad reaction. I tried the fish oil pills. Don't remember what they were called. They didn't help, anyway.

Oh, and please ignore people trying to sell you their snake-oil here. That's very unethical of them.
Some people are helped by adding the right Essential Fatty
Acids to their diet. Did you know that fish oil is concentrated
algae oil?

While I understand WHY you don't want to use medication, ADHD is a MEDICAL condition.
Which is why natural products don't help. It's like those of you who may have needed glasses so you try eating extra carrots or supplements.it probably didn't work because only the glasses can help you see better.
Same goes for ADHD. Go ahead a try the natural things because in the end, you will, most likely go the standard of care which is usually Ritalin or Concerta. Work closely with your doctor on any side effects there may be. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right.
Good Luck!
