question about Valerian (or other herbs)?

Question:
I sometimes have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep due to lifes stresses and would like to know if anyone out there has some intellegent advise about valarian and its recommended dosage, side effects and benefits. Is there one form that is best or most effective. Is this the herb of choidce for sleeplessness and/or anxiety? Thanks.

Answers:
Valerian root is a very good choice for helping you sleep. It is actually the plant that Valium is derived from. You can get the capsules from any health food store or other herb supplier. It doesn't work well with anxiety though.
For anxiety I would try St. John's Wort. That is an all-natural anti-depressant and anti-anxiety herb. This can also be picked up at the same places as Valerian Root.
As for dosages it will vary depending on your specific needs. You can look at the suggested dosages and go from there.

It's OK ! I drink Sleepytime tea & that works !

I'm not sure about recommended dosages and such, but my mother told me to try it a few years back and I ended up having such vivid and realistic dreams that I had to stop taking it. I was actually feeling less rested than normal due to these dreams frightening me so bad at night..Good luck There are soooo many great herbal references to indulge your mind in.get cracking! But just for now.you obviously have not had the "pleasure" of experiencing the aroma of Valerian, let alone it's flavor.a potent medicinal, to say the very least.in all aspects. There are much more subtle, better tasting remedies.like catnip, chamomile, and teas & elixirs already created for such needs.read up, ask knowledgeable people like those who run your local natural food store, try them out. But also take into consideration your diet.caffiene, preservatives/additives, refined sugars, etc.can play a great part in your restlessness--read those labels! Simple meditation skills are quite helpful in chilling out the brain & the body. Stress can harm more than your sleep.you are worth the effort to make the needed changes to your lifestyle.go for it!

You can go to www.jadibooti.com or mail to jadibooti@yahoo.com, if you are looking for any herbs. They have excellent collection. Even if they dont have, they will arrange any herb on your request.

Only if you are not pregnant and wish to stay that way while you take the herb. It doesn't do good things to babies you carry.

I have a supplement called Plus. Look at my information.
