Tumeric is an anti-inflammatory. This fact lies in tumeric's orange pigment, known as curcumin. Curcumin's anti-inflammatory effects are comparable to over the counter anti-inflammatories, such as Motrin. As a bonus, motrin can have toxic effects, yet tumeric does not!
Tumeric also has anti-oxidant activity for cancer prevention, has been shown to inhibit cell growth (metastesis sp?), helps with liver function, and protects against alzeihmer's disease.
