Why do they use sterilised needles for death by lethal injection?

Question:
Think seriously before answering this question please! :-D

Answers:
The needle might get clogged up from a previous excicution - if your injecting into some1, that needle is going into the arm and could get cloged by skin cells therefore you wouldnt be able to administer the right dosage to the next person. Plus the people administering them might get infected too if pricked by one.....

Same reason kamikaze pilots wear helmets and have enough fuel for the return trip.
good question!
how do you know they do?
Safer for the people who handle them. Execution is wrong.
Because it's more humane than a sledge hammer.
To try to be humane and appease the non-death penalty people. Personally, I think we should go back to drawn and quartering the death row guys. In case you didn't know, drawn and quartered is where you tie a rope to each arm and leg of the condemned, then each rope is connected to a horse, and the 4 horses run in 4 different directions.
LOL! I have often wondered the same thing! Crazy!!
This is actually a good question, however if you're smart enough to ask this quesiton then you're smart enough to answer it right?

Consider that they use highly trained phelobotomist and doctors they are trained to do this, and they practice it every time- it shows professionalism, and their training
Because it would probably be criticized as cruel and unusual. What are they going to do anyway? Save old needles to use for executions? Probably more of a hazard to the medical staff that way.
It may have to deal with liability insurance incase the person lived through it.
That way they could not come back and sue the state for a disease that may or may not have been from the needle.
They dont make special needles for death row, Im sure they are just ordered in a box, and taken from a distributers warehouse shelf, and the box next to them may go to your local hospital.
They are still alive, so you must do things HUMANELY.
Why not poke them in the eyes? Right?
Who cares they're going to die!?

See how horrid that sounds?
If the prisoner got a stay after the IV was placed then the state would be liable for any harm to come of it.
That's because of they don't sterilize the needle if they do an autopsy they can get sued because the victim didn't die of a lethal injection.

But really i don't think they actually do lethal injections i think they just tell the person it is and they die on there own so they clean the needle to prove they had nothing to do with it
All neddles manufactured for injection are sterelized. All needles that have been used now have active safety devices, which means they are automatically covered when taken out of the arm. If not, the must still be disposed so as not to infect the person doing the sticking. Soooooo, since all the dirty ones are thrown away to protect DR.'s nurses. phlebotomists, labe techs and the like, and all new needles, which is your only option you have left, are sterile, this is why Lethal injections are given with sterile needles.
A.) Because they are sharper
B.) Stop and think of what that would say about a physician that would even retain a use syringe.
i guess just cuz it's humane. just as death by lethal injection is humane.
Because unlike the old days when needles were more cumbersome and reused due to cost, no one has had the need to reuse needles in many years. Plus it also cuts down on infection- the person giving the shot, using a new needle there is no chance of spreading infection.
just in case...
LOL. I guess so the person giving the injection doesnt get sick if there is something on the needle??
well they don't want the person to get an infection do they
where are you going to purchase unsterilized needles, really.
so they cant be sued
Probably medical ethics .

Also think of the possibility of this ......

An infected needle may harbour bacteria that affects how the administered drug works , and if this were to make a quick painless death into a slower painful death , surely that would be considered as torture. Dont forget that many human rights campaigners believe that murderers shouldnt have their lives taken away because that would make us as bad as them.
so the accused doesnt sue them? av often wondered why they use sterilised needles myself. maybe its incase somebody else gets stabbed by the needle by accident, if the giver of the jab trips and falls for instance....

peace n love swot xxx
how do u know do u sterilise them?
i should think they get any old needle
I dare say the injection is administered by a medical person and it wouldn't be in the best interests of the condemned to give them a nasty infection.

I expect the real answer is: where the hell do you get unsterilised needles, perhaps there is a marketing oppertunity to supply unsterilised needles especially for the execution market.
Because they get the needles the same place every other hospital and doctor's office does. From a maker of sterile needles like B-D. Plus, the person administering the injection is vulnerable to whatever is on the needle before and after the injection. A sterile needle protects the user from infection before the skin of the inmate is punctured.
health reasons
hey quess what i like you your my type of guy good question because the ****** is going to die anyway.
