What is a sleep test?
Question:
Answers:
My son had a sleep test. He stayed overnight at the hospital and they connected many different monitors to him - on his chest, arms and legs. They also had a video camera recording him. They moniter things like REM (rapid eye movent) heart beat, breathing and general wakefullness or spleeping. Nothing painfull but might be uncomfortable.
A specialist hooks you up to machines while you sleep to monitor your sleep patterns overnight. The cost? about $2,000 if you don't have insurance.
They can tell from these tests if you have sleep apnea which can cause restless sleep, heart conditions and other illnesses, even death. If you feel you have a problem in this area, go get help.
It's when you go to a sleep study lab and they monitor you about 7-8 hours overnight while you sleep, such as heart, oxygen level, check for sleep apnea (if you stop breathing for short periods).
Usually done to see if a person has sleep apnea. You go to a sleep lab for the night. Before going to bed they hook you up to a million wires..on your head, chest, arms, legs and then monitor your sleep and dreams. My Mom went for that and said it wasnt bad.
a sleep test is where you have to wake up in the middle of the night to see if u have lost any sleep!and then go back to sleep again whilst you stay wide awake just to make sure?
