my apartment is in the basement and it had water in the floor, how do I get the mildew smell out?

Question:

Answers:
Your local Home Depot sells netted bags that contain great mildew aroma killers.natural charcoal based.whatever you do, don't use bleach! They also sell a product called Dry-Lock, which can be "painted" onto the walls & floor to seal out moisture.very useful, depending on the source of the wetness, & actually kills the mold & mildew while preventing further growth.

Other Answers:
Run a dehumidifier, place pans of charcoal or cat litter (clean) down there. If you see any mold, scrub it with bleach.

You can use a charpet cleaner vacuum. bleach

Why not buy a dehumidifier..if you live in the basement it will take any dampness out and prevent bugs that like damp places..and your place will smell better.

turn ur fan on in that area.then get fabreeze.same thing happened to me

There is a product out there I forget what is called but it is in a clothe bag that is for basements u put it around the room and it absorbs Odor and moisture. U might want to try a dehumidifier and clean with bleach to get rid of all mildew If you can't beach the he-ll out of everything, you might consider moving. Mold and mildew can be very harmful to your health.

Use some oxi-clean and some nice smelling dish soap detergent in a half pail of somewhat hot water.

Peace!

You won't. Trust me, I am from New Orleans and I was one of the fortunate ones that my home did not flood, but I know many people that their home did flood. Everyone I know is completely redoing their house. Just gut it and redo it, its the only way, or it will forever smell musky.
