Has anyone used essential oils and can you prove if they actually work?

Question:

Answers:
I've used essential oils for the past 10 years, producing bath products, candles, and massage oils for friends and family as gifts and on request. I've experienced the benefits of using essential oils, and so have my family and friends. I even use some oils on my children, both human and animal, with no ill effects.

The opinion on whether they work or not would also depend on how they are used and under what conditions.

Other Answers:
depends on what u r using them for or on or in..

I used them extensively when I was manufacturing herbal products. There are a handful of studies that seem to support claims that lavender is calming, peppermint is relaxing, etc., but beyond that, the science gets very, very shaky. Not a single credible study has ever shown any REAL healing properties. As for crap like--and I've read these in more than one aromatherapy book--"lavender heals burns in a blink of an eye" or "you can literally watch the wounds closing" that's just absolute bunk. Don't believe it for a second.

And, yes, many have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties but only under laboratory conditions. To work that way in real life (to cure a cold, for example) they'd have to be so concentrated that they'd become poisonous.

Best Wishes
