Can obesity be "cured" someday?

Question:
i dont know if its spelled right, but i mean that if fat people can be cured in the future? a NO fat people world?

Answers:
I don't want to sound judgemental, but if someone is obese, there are MANY things he or she can already do. It's not necessary to wait for a "miracle cure", and in fact it would be unhealthy to wait. Personally, I think too many people don't take enough responsibility for themselves. Notice I did not say ALL. I said "many".

I know some obese folks who blame their genetics, claiming "well, everyone in my family is fat, so I guess I'll always be fat too." NOT TRUE! A person like this might need to work a lot harder to lose weight, but it can be done -- I've seen it! The same is true for people who say that their lives are terribly stressful and they over-eat because of the stress. I understand about stress -- we can't always control the stressors in our lives. But we CAN control our responses to the stress.

There are numerous ways obese people can help themselves, and I don't mean simply the 101 different diets out there. There's also support groups (which often work wonders), biofeedback, meditation, hypnosis, cognitive-behavioral therapy, etc. And let's not forget EXERCISE! This is one of the things that is often terribly lacking in the daily life of obese people. Again -- I did not say it's always lacking, but all too often, it is. Losing weight and getting healthy takes lots of lifestyle changes -- you can't sit back and wait for some band-aid that's going to suppress your appetite, because it still won't resolve the other causes of the obesity.

And since I'm being blunt, let's not forget that being obese MAJORLY increases a person's chances of developing heart disease and diabetes, as well as osteoarthritic conditions of the knees and hips. And in women, it also increases the chances of developing breast cancer. And in ALL people, obesity makes them a very poor risk for any type of surgery -- by this, I mean they are more likely to die on the operating table or afterwards. If nothing else, even if obese people don't care about their OWN bodies, they should "get healthy" for the sake of the parents, spouses and children who will MISS THEM if they die an early death due to an obesity-linked disease or disorder. :( There is someone in my own family whom this applies to, and I worry about this person all the time!

I hope so. Then we would all have to find something else to complain about. Like will we ever find a cure for Ugly. lol
Only diseases get cures. Obesity is not a disease. It's more of an obsession, like answering questions in youqa.coms.
it can be cured now, if fat people got off their butts and took care of themselves.

And I dont want any hate mail, I am on way losing weight and I have a friend who has dropped over 100 lbs in a year all on his own no surgery no pills. period, its a choice.
If there were no fat people who would we make fun of
As soon as people start to eat right and exercise everyday yes the problem will miraculously cure itself.
we have one

diet and excerise

if you cant do these, you dont have the right to be skinny or alive
No, because the further along society gets technologically, the less people exert themselves physically. People have to make a conscious effort to eat right, watch their caloric intake and get into an everyday exercise routine. There is no "cure" for obesity. The cure lies within each of us as individuals.
Well, if you are referring to the idea of a medicine that instantly makes a person skinny, no matter what kind of appetite they maintain, then I would say 'no.'

I know some experts claim that some overweight people are under a chemical imbalance, and so may be true, but I don't believe it is impossible for anyone to lose weight.

I've gained about 10 lbs. in the last few months. I'm at 146 lbs. from 135ish, and today I missed breakfast and lunch. I just ate, but I don't remember being hungry at all during the day. The excess weight was probably the reason. So, I don't think it is impossible for someone to lose weight at all. I didn't feel hungry even though I missed two meals.
Sure, it can be cure. With diet and exercise! the only cure for fat people is for them to get off their asses. what idiot thought up, "Hey, maybe it isn't fat people's fault their fat." It is their fault. The cure is called putting down the damn fork.
Sadly enough, the only real cure for obesity is self-control.

If a person is overweight for other reasons, I sure hope there's a cure. But, sadly enough, obesity is just another term for overeating
Great question. I am doing my best to cure it. See below. Manufacturers could sell less fattening replacements to what they are selling but apparently the main criteria for ingredients is to use the cheapest, no matterr how bad for someone.

It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world soon surpassing hunger and infectious disease. So you are a victim of this pandemic (epidemic).

You need to re-learn how to eat. Learn everything on site below so you can understand how food and exercise affects your body. Do this and you can be thin. Do this not, and you will remain part of the biggest pandemic in all of history. Due to this pandemic, for the first time in 100 years, the children of Americans have a lower life expectancy than their parents.
As living in America we take a great advantage of proportions of food. For example, a cheeseburger,20 years ago, would have 333 calories. A cheeseburger today would have 590 calories. If we took more control over our proportions and eat Heath and exercise regularly obesity may on decrease,
only with hard work.
yes you did spell it right..to answer your question, with the world we live in today, obesity will go away when all fast food restaurants close.we all know they're the source for it.
