Ultram: tramadol. Has anyone taken this regularly?

Question:
I have for quite some time and I think I'm having some side effects. If you've taken it for a period of time, did you have any side effects?
Thanks! :)

Answers:
I have taking tramadol for about 5 yrs. I take it for chronic pain and if I miss a dose I go through severe withdrawals. I was lead to believe it was not addictive. I get dizzy, the chills, I can't think and my whole body aches. If I run out or miss a dose I start withdrawal almost immediately. I hope this helps you.
This medication is used to relieve moderate pain. It is similar to narcotic pain medications. It works on certain nerves in the brain that control how you experience pain. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. The maximum recommended dose is 400 milligrams a day. Pain medications work best if they are used as the first signs of pain (or migraine) occur. If you wait until the pain has worsened, the medication may not work as well. This medication may cause dependence, especially if it has been used regularly for an extended time or if it has been used in high doses. In such cases, withdrawal reactions (e.g., anxiety, sweating, sleeplessness, shaking, diarrhea, rapid breathing) may occur if you suddenly stop this drug.Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently, or use it for a longer time than prescribed. Properly stop the medication when so directed.
When used for an extended period, this medication may not work as well and may require different dosing.
The only side effect I have had is sweating. I have been taking it for a couple of years for chronic pain. As you probably know this medication can lower the seizure threshold so those who have had any history of seizures should not take it.
Hi Km,
I have severe neuropathy in my feet, legs, hands and back. I have been taking Tramadol (Ultram) four times a day, for about 7 years. I have been taking 50mg. 4 times a day. I have never had any kind of a problem with it, except it did not stop all of the pain. I have not been pain free for 7 years, until now.

My husbands friend, he works with, has very bad back pain, from surgery he had 4 years ago. He was on Lora-tabs 4-6 times a day. Then some one gave him a dietary supplement to try. Needless to say he is pain free and no longer takes any meds.

I would not have believed it myself, except that when he told my husband about it he jumped at the chance to ease my pain. Now I have NO PAIN EITHER!

However, I am not taking "any" Tramadol, or any other pain medication, anymore. What I take is all natural, is not addictive and best of all does not destroy the body!

Sincerely,
Abbye B
