Coptis Chinensis...Long Term Usage...Effects, if any?

Question:

Answers:
Coptis is much like goldenseal; it is very cold and can disrupt the yin/yang balance of the body. While it is safe to use for 2-3 weeks, it is not a Tonic Herb and should not be used long term!
Long term use of this herb is reported to be very safe with few side effects and no adverse effects though it is used with caution or contraindicated in some cases of diarrhea, vomiting, or nausea.

In Chinese medicine it is one of the most common heat clearing herbs.
