you havent slept in 3 weeks? isint that close to the guiness world records? well your situation is damn serios. if its really as serios as you are suggesting try a tranqulizor or knock yourself out.(the jaw is pretty sensitive)
Doctor can't help you?!
The only thing I can suggest is doing this:
Lay on your back and think about one part of your body at a time. Think about that one part going to sleep, then move up to the next one (feet, then legs, etc.). Usually by the time I get to my chest I am getting tired.
I would highly recommend meditation, it might not let you sleep, but it will let you clear your mind and relax and in time you might be able to sleep. There are binural beats that change your brain waves, and may put you into a relaxed state so that you can sleep.

I find the easiest way to go to sleep fast is to clear my mind of everything and concentrate on my breathing. You can learn how to clear you mind through meditation.
Hi There ... Do you believe in God? Not being funny but prayer and reading the Bible may be a comfort to you (if youre not athiest) I have this simular issue, but I do go to bed eventually. i'm just kinda lonely, and you?
Dan, I am not a medicine man, but I do know that insomia has many reasons. You may ofcourse be aware of a need to avoid TV and afternoon naps. Try to cool your room to 16deg Centigrade and drink a warm glasss of milk or have 5-8 spoons of yoghurt just before bed. Play a soft music and read a bit. Keep the lights soft. Do not drink before bed. Part of it is psycological since you have tried many methods and it is not helping. Baiscally relax!
I do shift work and sometimes have to sleep during the day, which i can't sleep and never have been able to during the day, light sleeper, so the doctor gave me stilnox, knocked me out within 15 minutes, i wake up all refreshed.
Cognitive behavior therapy, melatonin, diphenhydramine, antidepressants, atypical antipsychotics, valerian, chamomile, lavender, hops, passion-flower, alcohol, magnesium, drink warm milk, take a warm bath, exercise vigorously for 30 minutes in the afternoon, eat a large lunch and only a light dinner 3 hours before bedtime, avoid mentally stimulating activities at night, wake up early, pomegranates, aromatherapy, slow paced music, meditation, acupuncture
This is called Manic. I know you mentioned having tried herbs, but Chamomile tea or catnip tea has been a savior for my insomnia, plus it calms nerves too. Try it before you rule it out. Also, unless you feel bad, the body needs rest and not necessary sleep. As long as you feel rested, don't worry so much about sleep unless you are getting absolutely no sleep at all.
Have you tried reading a boring book, or just laying there imagining yourself on a beach chair on a desert island - alone?

Personally, I think this has gone well past anything you should try to deal with alone and you should get to a doctor quickly - before you destroy your health and your sanity. Tell him that the prescriptions haven't worked - see if he can give you something like Amitriptylene (sp?) - its technically an antidepressant but it took care of insomnia for me rather quickly.

If you do take that one, make sure you are prepared for sleeping - it will hit you like a wrecking ball in about an hour after you take it. I found that my mind would fight it, so I would distract my mind with reading... one time I was so into the book I forgot to get ready and I woke up 12 hours later on top of the bed, fully dressed, and the book itself hadn't even fallen on my chest. The frightening part was, the light bulb had melted part of the fixture and could actually have started a fire and I would have been unconscious. Not just sleeping.. unconscious.

Also, this drug would knock me out for a full 12 hours each time - so say goodbye to evening television if you have a job. After several days of taking it, my system reset itself and I was able to sleep normally again - and I still have no clue why I wasn't able to sleep previously.

Do not do any activity that includes staring at a bright object 1 hour before you sleep. This includes computers and TV. Your last meal should not include fruits since they have vitamins that can give you energy. Include this in your last meal: some bread, dairy product like a warm glass of milk, some sesame seeds, they have calcium which helps you to sleep, dates. dates are the only fruit that induces sleep. Take a boring book with you to bed. Good luck.
Are saying that you haven't slept at all? You lie in bed awake every night? No naps? No drowsiness?

I have a lot of problems with insomnia, mine has to do with falling asleep. Once I am asleep, I usually sleep ok.

So, if you have that, the trouble is, the situation produces anxiety because you are lying there waiting to go to sleep. If that is the problem, try not trying. Get up and do things. Don't let yourself go to bed for 24 hours. See how you feel after doing that.

Another idea is to get some tapes with guided meditations specifically for insomnia. I was given one in the hospital for anxiety before surgery. It put me right to sleep (before the drugs,etc.).
just snort some seroquil.
or do some meth.. then you won't have to sleep
:D
Funny that you don't mention going to a doctor.

There's a new sleep aid call Lunexa that helps anybody sleep and is not addictive.
Have you tried lavender essential oil? when ive had insomnia it has helped me i would try putting drops of oil on a few cotton balls and put them in your pillow cases and see if that helps... also make a massage oil with about 3-4 drops lavender oil, 3-5 chamomile oil, and 3-4 sandalwood oil and rub it on your body it will make you relaxed and tired cause lavender is good for insomnia and so is chamomile it helps me relax anyway... hope it works.
