There are no home remedies. You need antibiotics and if you don't get it treated it can spread to your kidneys or blood stream and cause MAJOR problems.
Cranberry juice -- the pure kind, not Ocean Spray cranberry juice "cocktail". Look in the health food or organic section of your grocer.

Drink 8 oz of cranberry juice 3 times a day. This changes the pH of the urine.
Don't pee at the first small urge, but let the bladder get somewhat full. Not uncomfortably so, but you know how UTI's make you think you have to pee and you get in there for a whole tablespoon's worth? Try not to let that happen.
Depending on what bacteria is infecting your urinary tract, the newly-hostile pH environment may eliminate it. If not, a trip to the doc is needed. If you feel unwell or are running a fever, skip the juice and get started with antibiotics.
If you already have an active infection, then you need antibiotics to get rid of it so that it does not turn into a kidney infection.
For preventative maintenance, take a cranberry capsule 1x day, which you can buy at a healthfood store. They come in bottle of 30-60 caps per bottle.

Cranberry Juice will help. There are also cranberry pills that I take when I feel one coming on. Also, if you take 2 alka-seltzer as soon as it starts, the acid from it is suppose to help. I have tried this about 3 or 4 times and it has worked for me!
