Honey to treat a deep second degree burn?

Question:
medicines practioners?
i have a very deep second degree burn, my flesh is pink but no longer gushing blood. My doctor prescribed silver sulfiazine its been and told me to wash and rinse it everyday to pervent infection. But there is not even minimal progress. I read from a couple of sites that honey can help prevent bacteria and help heal wounds. Should i use the honey instead without risk of infection? Should i listen to my doctor? I know hes probably right but I am big on holistic cures, plus if you knew that a 4 dollar jar of honey would cure you. You wouldnt go out and buy that 30 dollar jar of meds. Than the drug companies wouldnt make any money.

Answers:
While it is true that honey has certain antibacterial properties that only applies to raw honey. not the honey you buy in the grocery store(it has been pasteurized). so unless you can find "raw" honey you are wasting your time. Listen to your doctor.

You can use honey, but let me tell you that the silver sulfiazine is the best. It almost heals that wound overnight, fights infection and in this situation use that cream. I'm an herbalist and this stuff is the best of the best. There is nothing out there that can bet it. My daughter was severely burned at 15 months of age and I thank God to this day for that cream. I use to be the president for the Lady's auxiliary for the local fire dept and that stuff is a miracle in a jar. It cools the wound instantly and generates new skin growth literally overnight. It's not sticky either. Spend that $, honey will take longer and it's messy. Even as a herbalist, this is one case that the cream is better to opt.
YES, natural honey will work perfect or tea tree oil, it's a natural product, you can get both of them from a store that sells natural products, I have used natural honey on small burns but tea tree oil on a bigger burn and you'll see result right away.
Yes use honey it has proven that it is impossible for bacteria to grow on it
It's possible to have a bad reaction to tea tree oil, and honey is not indicated for severe burns. In this case, the best advice is to follow your doctor's advice!
Yes, use only raw honey. You might need to go to a roadside stand to get it. If the honey has been pasteurized, forget it.

Years ago a woman I knew suffered second and third degree burns on her inner thighs from a stove/boiling liquid accident.

She took as much Vitamin E as she could starting several days after the accident. Her doctors were going to do skin grafts on her.

But she left the hospital after four weeks not needing any surgery.
A combination of E & C would work even faster and better.

Good luck and be well.

My training is not to use a home remedy especially butter. The important thing is to keep infection out. Your skin keeps a lot of the bad stuff out. So, what is the real cost of a 30 dollar medicine if you skip it for a 4 dollar self prescription and they end up amputating the part due to the infection. Worse yet, a severe infection can cause multiple body system shutdowns resulting in death. One a systemic infections starts it it very hard to stop. People that die from bad burns actually die from infections.
USE THE SILVADINE CREAM
unless you want to risk the chance of gettinig your wound infected...
dont put honey on anything. thats not good.
and generic silvadine cream runs about 11 dollars..
i know this b/c i work in a pharmacy and have recently used the product on my 4 year old son. he had a severe 2nd degree burn with bleeding and large blisters. we used the silvadine cream for about 3 weeks. changing the dressing and cleaning the wound twice daily.
i wouldnt dare put honey on a serious burn like that.. no way in the world would I.
just get the silvadine, use it and give it a few weeks, with any serious burn you wont see imediate results, the dead burnt skin has to shed and give time for the new skin to grow back, sure it will be very pink and tender but it will heal, this is a slow process.. but within 6 months the scar will be almost unnoticable.
LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR.
im all for holistic options, but i WOULD NOT put honey on a burn wound, thats a serious risk for infection.
trust me, the silvadine works its only 11 dollars or so.
go to cvs. i know for a fact that a 50gram jar of generic silvadine cream "silver sulfiazine" is 10.99 i work there in the pharmacy.
Go to the health food store and buy some colloidal silver. I've looked into several brands and found SOVEREIGN SILVER is the most reputable. It is a liquid that comes in a spray, eyedropper or nasal bottle. It can be used for many, many things including burns. It speeds healing and helps prevent scarring. Check into it (google SOVEREIGN SILVER) to find the many uses for it. Good luck.
