Everybody reacts different to different strategies. If it works for you GO FOR IT. I also know that an aspirin wetted down to a paste then applied will also help to clear up faster. But the best control is cleanliness of face, hair, hands and fingernails. Astringents will get what soaps leave behind on the face.
The purell want hurt you and it is effective on pimples.
Since you have acne, a continued use of Speartmint goat milk would not only clear up the acne and stop/control outbreaks, but it would keep your skin moisturizer too. Although most people believe ance to be a constitute of oily skin, it's not, its attributed to puberty, hormones and toxins your skin gathers. My son had bad acne (head, neck, back and lower back that was painful. We tried everything with limited success, then we'd try something else. I found a shop near our home were the lady makes everything there and she recommended it. We bought it and it cleared it up and no more fighting him to put on a moisturizer, b/c that took care of it all in one go. She has a site www.dandesoap.com were you can purchase it or look around for someone who makes goat milk soaps that may make one with spearmint or would make you some with spearmint.
Best to you, use it while it works and then try the spearmint.
I know that "Silky Scents" has already made acne blends, acne scar removers, and they have a free recipe section for acne. You'll probably be able to find all the information there. Plus they have the pictures of each plant. You can google their name to find them online.
