Where can you work with a degree in pre-med??

Question:

Answers:
I hesitate to say “nowhere” but generally speaking American colleges and universities do not grant pre-med degrees or offer a pre-med major. However, many schools have a pre-med advisor who can stear you in the right direction by advising you on which courses to take from different departments. The general requirements are about two years of biology and about a year and a half to two years of chemistry (a year of general chemistry and at least a quarter of organic chemistry). Most will also require math, either calculus or statistics most likely, and at least one physics class to include optics, mechanics, magnetism, and a couple of other specific topics.

Though a lot of schools do not list specific biology courses that must be taken, molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, and microbiology are all recommended. A course in biochemistry is also usually recommended.

Courses in psychology, nutrition, or other fields related to patient care and the actual practice of medicine may look good, too.

Most usually require at least a quarter of English composition, if not more.

Actually, UC Santa Cruz does have a Health Sciences major, but I'm not sure if this really looks any better than a biology major or any other major with the requisite science and math courses another school.

(A pre-med "degree" does not qualify you for anything in particular. It would be about the same as a bachelor's in biology.)
