I've recently started taking SWEDISH BITTERS (not regularly) but got some bad side effects in the break offs.

Question:
Such as stomach dissorders, low blood pressure, menstrual dissorders, extremely cold limbs, sleepiness and etc. which are diseases I've suffered from in the past (from time to time). I have the feeling these hearbs recall again all my past and present health problems (hopefully for good purposes). No reasons to think that my bitters are bad quality (taken from a good source!). When I resume taking the bitters most problems dissapear exept from the stomach problems. I feel like a drogatic :-) Is there a salvation or I'm doomed to take them for good in order to feel good :-) Is that the normal way they work out? Should I continue taking them?

Answers:
I agree with you that Swedish Bitters are a good product. What you are describing is called the Law of Natural Cure. As you begin to heal naturally, you can briefly revisit old symptoms of a disease processes from the past.

An example:
In acupuncture, the Metal Element governs over the Lungs and the skin. Often when we treat an adult for psoriasis or a strange rash, they have a history of childhood asthma that they haven't experienced in years.

These adults used corticosteroids inhalers to suppressing asthma attacks when they were children. Many medication that are used to suppress symptoms are seen in Chinese medicine to push the disease to deeper levels of the body.

As they go through the natural healing process and their skin begins to clear, the next phase will be a re-experience of asthma, as the root causes of the asthma had never been addressed.

If these symptoms are part of the Natural Law of Cure, then they should be short lived and less severe than, let's say, a regular asthma attack. If these symptoms persist for more than a couple of days, seek medical attention.

The one symptom I would keep an eye on is the cold limbs. While the Swedish bitters are a great product, they are VERY cold herbs. In Chinese medicine we delineate all herbs into Yin (cold) and Yang (warm) herbs. If someone is yang deficient, we would avoid cold herbs.

Hope this helps!
