Chest pains?

Question:
I get chest pains and a gripping feeling in my throat. It's not my heart and my blood pressure is ok.
It could be panic attacks, but I don't really feel much panic? Though it may be linked to insecurity and or anger.
Any ideas? Physical or herbal treatments?

Answers:
My husband gets this, too. He has talked to the doctor, but not much help there.

When these 'attacks' occur he just moves around, stretches, groans a lot and scares me to death! They seem to go away after awhile. This happens about twice a year. Very strange!

I did "Google" this and got an assortment of answers. I would try this if I were you. You may find a response that sounds just like what you are having.

One other thing. My husband is very 'intense' in all that he does. I think 'hyper' types may have this condition more often. :)
of course talking to your doctor is your best bet, but it could be heart burn.
it could be a number of things you should check it with a doctor
well you said it wasnt with your heart but i have a huntch that it could be something like heartburn or you could have astma ... i would check it out with your doctor ... get some treatment or tablets from them... hopee i could helpp ... summer_yehh
You should go to your doctor and get a check out . Maybe is panic attacks but you have to be sure. Just in case take a Tilus tea before go to the bed.
You could have heartburn, acid reflux, or a hiatal hernia. See your doctor!!
take a glass of bearable hot water mix quarter tea spoon of salt. gargle at least four times a day. you will be relieved.
This is not worth taking a chance when you are having chest pains. You need to see your doctor to find out if there is some medical reason for the chest pains. It could just be nerves or stress.
If you have had the necessary checks by a GP to rule out things like heart problems and you yourself think it is linked to anger or insecurity then i would suggest you practice medititation- its very calming and relaxing. When you are angry try counting to ten and taking deep breaths. Keep repeating Love, Light and Peace and you will soon see a difference in the way you feel.
Gastric acid reflux (heartburn) you would know about it. It is a nasty burning sensation in your esophagus maybe spreading up to your throat.

Chest pains could be anything - could be just skeletal muscle pains or worse :(

You could keep a diary of what you have done. Perhaps both exercise, food intake and emotional state. Then see what correlates with the pains? Carbonated drinks, fatty foods, alcohol, tobacco and spicy food (if not used to them) are all triggers for heartburn.

The gripping feeling in the throat does seem to indicate
a panic attack. Not entirely sure what a "gripping feeling in the throat" is! - little bit subjective :)

But you brought up that it could be linked to insecurity or anger. So i'd have a think about that as a possibly cause.

Disclaimer: present your GP with the symptoms :)
Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. Panic attacks can be related both to anger and insecurity. You may not feel any 'panic' and you may not even think you are 'anxious'. However, there is something going on whetehr you are conscious of it or not. Regardless, the following steps will eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) your panic attacks:

1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, OCD and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads online, e.g. http://www.studentservices.utas.edu.au/c...

With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!
