Try a Yahoo search for "irritable bowel syndrome" + "home remedies" (OR "natural remedies").

Try aloe vera juice. You can get it in Health Food shops. Don't get the lemon flavour as it's minging, orange is ok. Just dilute one capful in a glass of water, one glass daily, and this should help.
A lot of the branded products are peppermint based. Try Peppermint capsules from Holland and Barrett as they'll be a lot cheaper. There's a specific type to get, but can't remember what they're called at the moment, and my work has banned the Holland and Barrett website (annoying!). They have a sale on just now too so you might get them cheaper.

I try and add detail to this answer later on when I get home.
i buy aleo vero juice it helps
Two well known natural remedies for this problem are the amino acid called "L-Glutamine" and the herb called; "Slippery Elm" .. You can find these in the health food store.
One alternative source of the Slippery Elm would be the following Chinese herbal medicine source:

Each persons cause of IBS can be different, so what works for one person may not work for another. May be a bit of trialing to find something that helps you. Do the common suggestions such as cut out tea, coffee, and alchohol, and drink more water.
There are also some specific IBS helpsites on the web, so have a look at those for more suggestions.
Many people have reported aloe vera juice as helping them.
Also manuka honey (if you get the active UMF version) is very good for digestive problems - I use if ever starting to get diarhea.
A common problem with natural remedies is that they do come in a variety of potencies, and it's not always clear what strength product you are being sold. eg a watered down aloe vera juice or one that has had minimal processing.
