Does anyone know of an over the counter remedy for a bladder infection?

Hi mrs. puckett

If you're suffering from one right now I empathize!

I have had tremendous personal success with echinacea capsules. Now I take them the moment I start feeling the slightest bit of urgency.

I take 4 (400mg) Nature's Way capsules every 3-4 hours if it's acute. Less if it's mild. (I have no ties to Nature's Way. I also have a bottle of NOW brand echinacea that I haven't tried yet.)

My experience is that this clears it up as fast as or faster than antibiotics.

It also wouldn't hurt if you made sure to get your multivitamin and extra antioxidants, like Vitamins A, C, E and the mineral, selenium, which all work well together. Personally, I would alternate the hours of dosage between the echinacea and the supporting supplements.

Limit or avoid all sweet foods/drinks and alcohol.

Good luck!
Citravescent for symptomatic relieve. Cranberry juice for prevention of infection. Drink plenty of water to flush out the germs.
If the infection is severe, you will need a prescription of antibiotics from the doctor.
Concentrated cranberry juice with no sugar added. It's available from any health food store.

Grocery store cranberry juice has added sugar which feeds the infection.

Good luck and be well.

Go to either a pharmacy or a healthfood store that sells homeopathic remedies. Purchase Apis 30C or Cantharis 30C. Take 3-4 pellets by mouth. Do not chew, simply allow to dissolve. Repeat every 15 minutes for first hour and then 3-4 times per day until symptoms change or resolve themselves. Do not use any product w/ camphor, menthol, eucalyptus, tea tree oil while using these remedies. Do not drink coffee either. Please refer to some of my other answers in RE: this subject, as I prefer to not keep having to repeat myself. I wish you well.

Also: Only wear cotton or silk underwear, no synthetics and insist upon utmost cleanliness in your partners, especially under their nails, if they are using their hands/fingers on you.
Go to the health food store and buy a bottle of pure, unfiltered, and unsweetened cranberry juice. .. This is a very bitter tasting juice,.. and you may find it hard to drink, but it will do wonders for bringing the bladder and kidneys back into chemical balance. .. Drink a small glass of this just before going to bed, .. just upon waking and 2 or 3 times at least, throughout the day. .. You won't like the taste,.. but tough it out and drink it down. You'll be glad you did.

Make sure you stay away from all forms of sugar (including fruit), ... and refined carbohydrates (cakes, cookies, breads, pasta etc.). sugar and these foods as well as alcohol, will only promote the infection, guaranteed. ..... Also stay away from cold foods and drinks,.. as these will stress the kidney/bladder system. ...

If the above does not reverse the problem within a couple of days,.. then order and take the following:

I got rid of one by taking liquid Colloidal Silver and Acidophillus for just a few days (I think it was 3 or 4). Pro-biotics instead of anti-biotics.

Good luck!
Whenever I get one, I just get cranberry supplement capsules and take 6 at a time 3 or 4 times a day and drink LOTS of water! That has worked better for me than any antibiotic the dr. has given me! But you have to be sure that you do it in time...if you wait to long it can spread to your kidneys and then you will have to go to the hospital. So try that, but if you start getting lower back pain get to the ER asap!!
there is an over the counter product called "Woman's wellbeing-UTI relief" the active ingredient is phenazopyridine hydrochloride. it is fairly cheap (you can get it at any drug store) and works within an hour to help you pee without pain! it turns your urine kind of orange due to the iodine, but that is normal. it helps very much with the pain and burning associated with bladder and urinary tract infections. the cranberry and colloidal silver will help clear up the infection as well, so no harm in doing all three! once you don't have the pain, the other products can flush through you more easily and wash away the infection!
I've read that a quarter teaspoon baking soda dissolved in water is quite helpful but never tried it. It makes the system more alkaline (less acidic), and the bacteria cannot grow in that environment. However, I've also heard that baking soda has a high salt content so shouldn't be taken long term or by anyone who has been told to go low sodium.
