Are the herbs, Boswellia and Hoodia, harmful or safe?

I have arthritis pain which sometimes prevents me from sleeping soundly. My liver enzymes elevate too much if I take Tylenol, ibeprofon, Alleve. I have relief with an Enzymatic Product called End Pain that contains cherry extract, bosellia (70% bosellic acids/300 mg)and white willow (30% salicin/133 mg).
Someone told me that Hoodia suppresses appetite and I am interested in knowing anyone's personal results with that herb.

Does Enzyte really work?

The use of Hoodia has long been known by the indigenous populations of Southern Africa, who infrequently use these plants for treating indigestion and small infections.

In 1977, the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) isolated the ingredient in hoodia (now known as P57) responsible for this appetite-suppressant effect and patented it.

Boswellia has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine. Recently, the boswellic acids that are a component of the resin it produces have shown some promise as a treatment for asthma and various inflamatory conditions (Gupta I, Gupta V, Parihar A, et al. Effects of Boswellia serrata gum resin in patients with bronchial asthma: results of a double-blind, placebo-controlled, 6-week clinical study. European Journal of Herbal Medicine 1998; 3:511-14.)

Does chiropractic help with a cold?

well although these products are not approved by the FDA you should always talk to your doctor or a pharmacist before taking any new medications. just to make sure they will not interact with anything else you may be taking. i would suggest going to your local pharmacy and just ask the pharmacist. they will be able to help you out and almost all pharmacists are more than willing to help answer any of your questions.

Boswellia is safe and works for arthritis pain. One good product that contains Boswellia is Arthrid. My mom and aunt take it and have stopped their painkillers. More info at www.sindor.com. You can find info on clinical studies done with this herb.
