Attn Anyone who deals w/Sundowners!!?
Question:
Answers:
there's not a whole lot you can do. without meds the mood swings are unpredictable and violent.
if you are dealing with one person one on one you may be able to use distraction techniques. if your working with a lot of people then meds is pretty much the only solution.
my grams has Alzheimer's and i have seen some crazy and scary things at the nursing home she's in. when my grams is sun-downing (even with meds) she still becomes very physically violent.
i wish there were some other way.
good luck with your search.
this is a hard situation. you can try and keep a well regulated schedule, and keep the person awake all day. using benadryl at night for sleep may help and its a mild pill. if u can contact your local social services dept there are adult day care centers to help with daily activities to keep the person active and thus more tired at nite.goodluck;)michele
I would try organic foods because the pesticides and herbicides re really bad for the body and do a lot of damage to the nervous system, try using natural products and eating whole foods instead of processed foods and refined foods. also make sure you are taking a vitamin and mineral supplement as well as your omega 3's which really help the brain. go to http://www.mynsp.com/kandismm/index.aspx...
there are good products there and you can email me with further questions as well as look up other products for the nervous system. anything is possible, good luck and good health!
