Heartburn.. help!?

Question:
Is there an herbal remedy for heartburn?

Answers:
The right idea is baking soda. It works.

papaya mint or peppermint will soothe the problem but to stop it from happening you need to take enzymes with your meals, food enzymes if your over 20 and proactazyme if your under 20, heart burn isn't too much acid in your system it's too little and the acids from the foods can't be broken down. This enzyme use has helped so many people! Antacids from the store ruin your bodies system for breaking down acids in foods and keep the problem going, if your like most people who have lived on antacids for a while then you know they don't heal anything!

Hi Mystique,

There are three things that work best together.

First, make sure you take plenty of multi-enzymes when you eat to help digest your food. Experiment with one, two or three tablets...it's whatever you need from your own experience.

Also chew a couple DGL tablets within 20 minutes of eating or when you have an attack.

And get a big bottle of George's aloe vera. Sip a little of it twice a day or when you get an attack. Let it swish in your mouth for 15-30 seconds to activate it.

You'll feel so much better if you do those three things.

Good luck and be well.

There may be some herbal remedies that could help you with this,.. but if what you are doing in terms of what you are eating and or drinking in your daily diet that is causing this problem is not addressed,. then, in the long run, you will not achieve success towards eliminating this problem.

I would reccommend that you go to the following web page to learn about lifestyle changes you most likely need to make in order to address this problem:

for instant heartburn relief, put one tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of water and drink it all real fast. not too pleasant but it really works immediately.
Just to clarify Kelley E's answer: DGL stands for deglycyrrhizinated licorice. It's good stuff, I highly recommend it.

[A note to whomever gave me a thumbs down: an elaboration of a previously noted point is not a good a reason to down-grade my response. Substantiation of a fact is a *good* thing. Research on DGL is available, and I am simply offering it to the person who posed the question.]
two tablespoons of vinegar in a half glass of water. Your body needs more acid to digest your food. That's the message its sending when you get heartburn. Don't take something to neutralize the acid-you are undermining your digestive process if you do. You need to chew your food more so the saliva will start the process of breaking down the food. Then the stomach acid does the rest. Try eating Italian dressing on your salad and see if you get heartburn then.
