Can anyone give me some tips on how to quit smoking?

Question:
I've tried the gum, the patch, etc...but they didn't work...I'm looking along the lines of something more naturopathic or holistic, etc.

Take Care and God Bless You !
nicorette, buy some, it'll work.
Keep trying! You can do it!
chew anykind of minty gum...during a craving...
Chew Tobacco.
cold turkey.
Just get through it.
Be strong. Because you CAN do it.
quitting for a while is hard, but ultimately much easier than quitting for good.

just know that if you quit for a short time, you ain't really done nothin'

stick it out. go for it. millions have done it. you can, too.

and don't replace it all with food and get way fat. choose celery sticks.
Call 1 800 quit now they will help you
Use either gum or the patch to satisfy the nicotine cravings, but fill an empty cigarette case with cinnamon sticks so that when you reach for it you find cinnamon sticks instead. Chew on the end of it for awhile or just pretend it's a cigarette (but don't light it.. lol). It helps the habit part a LOT, and also lessens any stress or tension you may have from trying to quit.
try this.
alright you have 5 for 5 day 4 for 4 days 3 for 3 days 2 for 2 days and then 1 for 1 day hope this helps
you should try substituting cigarettes with something else

-Gum
-mints
-sunflower seeds
-anything that you like that will keep you off smoking

also try to scare yourself to quit smoking just think of the dangers
This may sound ridiculous, but here's what I say:
1- pray to the Creator for assistance/strength!
2- quit other addictive substances at the same time (coffee, tea, alcohol, whatever - they all feed each other, making it more difficult to quit)
3- keep healthy snacks around the house when you get muchies, dried fruit, veggie sticks, (go easy on the dip!), whatever.
4- I hear grapefruit juice helps. I don't know why.
Try that!
Quit cold turkey.do you want cancer or what?do you think your indestructable? is that pain in your stomach or chest making you curious about what it is? Have you seen black lung? Do you want wrinkled skin? Do you wanna die early? You'll regret even starting someday. Quit now and every year your free of cigarettes you'll feel better. If you fail try again. It's not easy. It toll me 3 tries. Smokefree for over 10 years. Smoking sux. Also, when you smoke you smell.you just dont know it...you really stink. After you quit you will see how much a smoker smells, not to mention yellow teeth and mouth cancer.
first you will keep mind strength against smoking. then i give a practical way.

at early morning arrange seperate pot warm water will be 40 cc ( how hot you can fall in your body) other you will keep very cold water. first you wash body with warm water very well. after immediat wash body with cold water very well. when you wash with warm water, the body nicotine will come out and in cold water wash it will go with the water. you do it repeatly 40 to 60 days. you removed from nicotine adiction. no extra monee cost for it. you contact me after the therapy. you will be sucsess. sure. do it.

i give this fore more pupiles and they win from the addiction. go ahead
I heard cold turkey is the best way. My friend locked himself in his house for 3 days and didn't talk to anybody. He went through withdrawal badly, but after 3 days, he was fine. Never smoked again.
I have heard of some breakthroughs in breaking addictions with natural medicine.

NEAT doctors are the first step, my NAET allergist says sometimes we form addictions because of allergies to things, his office has seen some real miracles with kids that were on all sorts of 'hard' drugs, even cocaine. Soon after they are treated they don't want the addictive substance as much. Their brain function is returning to normal and one day they just stop old turkey and never pick up the habit or drug again.

Second step, cleansing. Cleansing should be done with a system that floods your body with nutrition while washing out impurities gently with high quality Aloe. I've tried a few but the one I started 2 weeks ago is the best. I'm feeling so good and I've lost 5 1/2 inches of fat in 2 weeks.

Ive also studied a herbal/mineral supplement called Kalmin made by Balance of Nature that supports brain function and severs the need for the addictive substance. It was specifically designed for addictions.

email anytime for more info on nutrition or natural subjects.
Ya know what? Just do it. Pick a date and just quit. It sounds difficult, but it's better than wasting your money on all of that other mumbo jumbo. Rewarding yourself helps too. For instance, set aside the money you would typically use to buy smokes, and then use it to buy something else...like shoes for instance.

It's not going to be easy. You are going to be bitchy and emotional and you may even start snacking a bit more, but it's totally worth it. Before long, you won't even miss it. You could try to brush your teeth a lot or chew / eat orange flavored gum / candy. That taste usually doesn't sit will with cigs.
I would try 1800 quit also. Along with this you really need to decide that you really want to stop. I think the best way to do this is to immersse yourself in the truth about cigarette smoking. Read up on what organs it can effect, what the effects are, increase you fitness and consider how much smoking impeeds your progress. Know that once you stop your skin, face and hair with look more healthy and lovely. Remember that all non-smokers think your breath stinks. Try to decide that smoking was a phase that you now want to move forward from. Many many people have moved away from one bad habit or another, you just need to really choose it. Change your activities to ones where you and others will smoke less, that way you aren't tempted. Learn to love yourself and your body and decide that you want better for both of you.
Good luck. You have the strength inside of you...find it and nuture all the positive things you want for youself!
I've got a good one for you. I actually heard this one from a friend. You set certain times of the day to smoke. Let's say for example, you will have your first cigarette at 9:00 am. then you will not have another one until 12:00, then say 3:00 etc. I don't know how much you smoked, but a friend of mine did it like that and then you keep increasing the time span between the cigarettes..pretty good idea i thought.

She was not a heavy smoker so her starting times were like 9, 12, 3, 6, 9 and then she went to sleep.

If you are a chain smoker you may want to try 15 min. intervals. Maybe get a timer.

Good luck
Dianne
this is what finally worked for me after trying everything under the son. There is a new medication on the market, recently approved. it's not like any of the others - it approaches a whole different aspect of addiction and trust me, it really works. it's called chantix and it works if you use it according to the directions. if had been taking it for about three weeks and then realized i hadn't even had a cig for two days. WOW. Along with that i would join one of the non smoking clubs on the internet. there are several that you join - for free and you find a buddy and then you have all these different groups you can talk to on line everyday. it's really neat. try it. Quitnet is my favorite and it has really helped alot. good luck
scare tactic, will they work?i have an aunt, who lost a leg and almost her life, because of the mess cigarettes did to her veins and arteries, my youngest aunt was just diagnosed July 21 with lung cancer, the tumor is really big and it inoperable, me i had a stroke, lost use of left arm and leg, i was very lucky, it could have very easily been my life!!!do you have a girlfriend, wife, love of your life?give them a break, your killing them-to!!you would not believe how bad you and your home and car smell!!!your usinausing your skin to age before its time, plus your teeth and breathe teeth and breath horrible. believe me,i know how hard it is?if this don't happen to me, id pro bally still be smoking, but doctor said if i smoked or was around smoke, i wouldn't be around for long, and believe me that was enough for me, i want to-live, i love life, i want to-see my kids and grand-kids grow up, I'm ms. healthy now!!!!and if i can help someone kick that nasty habit, that would be just great!check out your nearest hospital, they usually put on-programs to help you quit and they are usually free, also heck with doctor, but nothing will work, if you really don't want to quit, don't ever stop trying, try everything sooner or later something will work?keep trying have faith, you can do it!!your strong enough and smart enough to beat this, i know it!!good luck and god bless
I have been smoking for thirty one years. Been trying to give up for the last two weeks. Have not had a a cig now for three days. I am using step two patches. I have tried before and failed. But this time even if i relapsed. I tried not to see it as failing and kept determined to give up. I have put the date that i have had my last cig on bedroom wall. It helps keep me focused and gives me strength. Also have a look at cancer web sights, not very nice but does make you more determined. Try to make a personel plan make sure that people round you now. Make a mental list of bad things about smoking and recite them to yourself when you have CRAVING. Stay determined you can do it.
I heard there is a laser treatment to quit smoking.
Think how much money you are wasting on this cigarettes..
Go to google and type "what are the harm effects of smoking?".Please read the information carefully.
Try this one if you wish. Take a flash card and write "I want to quit smoking. It is injurious to health." Keep this flash card in your wallet. Whenever you have a chance to open the wallet the words remind you should quit smoking.
It is on your hands.
Divert your mind. Read books, make friends, do light exercises.
I have facilitated quit smoking support groups and I have quit smoking myself many years ago. I can tell you that there is no right way to quit smoking.

.. You just have to find the way that works for you. That may be going "cold turkey". it may mean gradually cutting down (a less successful approach). .. It may mean using the new medication that has come out over the past year called; " "CHANTIX" ... I have seen a number of individuals who were unable to quit previously,.. succeed at quitting when they used Chantix. .... I am not one to recommend anyone take a pharmaceutical drug for any reason,.. but when it comes to quitting smoking, if a drug will help you to accomplish quitting,.. by all means do it. Smoking is a critical life and death issue.

See your doctor about Chantix and follow the instructions on how to use it. . and find a good support system for you to help you succeed. ..... and whatever you do,.. don't forget a most important thing. ... When engaged in the challenge of quitting smoking,.. there is no such thing as failure. .. There is only giving up or continuing to pursue it until you succeed. ... Most people who succeed at quitting,.. experienced a number of failures before they finally made it stick. ... You can do it.
