Prune juice or bran cereals.
Prunes. Didn't believe it either until i tried it. Eat a box of prunes and slam a six pack of H2O. Good luck, I hope it all comes out.
I'm not sure of any natural method, but her doctor will certainly prescribe her a laxative. Constipation with pain meds is fairly common.
Eat a bowl of bran cereal daily and drink 8 glasses of water daily.

I am also on meds that cause digestive problems. I just added more fiber to my diet.
If she's really badly constipated, a doctor's advice and/or prescription is probably advised. But if not, then up the fiber intake - add some sort of fiber supplement, munch on Rye Crisp-type crackers (I love them with honey on them). And be sure to drink LOTS of water - a very necessary component.
The best product that I use for temporary relief, is HERBAL LAXATIVE TEA, from vitamin shoppe store. Its natural and do not create dependency. Another supermarkets has MILD LAXATIVE TEA, try with confidence, it will work. Enema its another option , but continue with TEA.
Hi!
The best thing your mom can do is start taking an over-the-counter fiber supplement called "Fiber Choice". Unlike psyllium-based fiber, this stuff doesn't swell, and she can chew the tablets without water. "Inulin"-based fiber works metabolically with calcium too, to more completely break the calcium down and allow more of it to be absorbed into the bloodstream. If mom also has bone concerns, she can take the over-the-counter calcium chews with Vitamins D&K, and also take a multi-B vitamin, a C vitamin, and E too. When you combine these vitamins and the calcium chews, with the Inulin fiber, these break each other down much more effectively, and your mom can feel better and stronger within the first few weeks of taking this combination, though a minimum of three months will be needed to start seeing the results medically. Of course, your mom should check with her doctor before she takes anything I've recommended, as certain medications can have counter-effects with certain vitamins or fiber and mineral supplements. when your doc asks if you are "taking anything" the doc means vitamins and mineral supplements and birth control or antacids too. I hope your mom feels better soon!
This might sound bizarre but it worked for me. You should do a full squat on the toilet instead of sitting down on it. Get two stools and put them to the sides or if you have good balance, squat on the edges of the toilet. This way you are in the proper position of taking a bowel movement. I've done this and noticed an increase in bowel movements after I eat, plus it's easier when I go. You can research more of this online.
You find that when dealing with issues of constipation that different products work for different people. I have found a great product called Oxy-Powder. This product is an oxygen based intestinal cleanser. The product is designed to help your bowels muscles to re-train themselves. Oxy-Powder also will help your body to rid itself of your compacted over a period of time. I would also consider trying to make sure that you are consuming the right amount of water. The usual recommendation is to take your body weight and divide it by 2. this is the number of ounces of water that you should try to consume per day. Your goal is to 3-5 bowel movements per day. I have been an avid Oxy-Powder user for almost three years and I love it.
She really should be taking stool softeners since she's on medication that causes constipation. Broccoli and green vegetables are your best source of fiber though. The fiber there is natural. Spinach is one of the best. They are more effective than brans and breads. Hope she gets to feeling better soon.
Fruit Fruit and more fruit. Apples, peaches, pears, grapes, apricots, prunes etc.
I agree that lots and lots of water, food high in fiber or a fiber supplement, prunes, and I have actually ate cherries and had relief. My granddaughter had a problem when she was little and we would give her maraschino cherries and they would work every time.
