Any doctors here? What do you say when you dont have an answer to something?

Question:
Just curious, but if a doctor gets stumped with a question, especially with todays more knowledgeable web-browsing patients, what will the doctor say? "I dont know?" or something along the lines of "that really varies from individual to individual" or, "the body is capable of alot of things, so that could be a possibility"

hahahaha cmon! spill it!

Answers:
We had a doc do that, still charged us full price for the office visit.

We went to another doc and they diagnosed it with in three minutes.
I'm not a doctor, but I can always tell when my doctor doesn't know something; he always makes a bunch of jokes about it. For example, once my throat closed up and I couldn't eat due to anxiety, but since he couldn't find anything physically wrong (he's one of those doctors who still seems to think physical and mental health are totally separate), he said I must have just been kissing too many dogs or something... I really wish they'd just let people know when they don't know something, as that would sound a lot less stupid than some of the cover-ups they try to use!
If I don't know the answer I just don't click the "answer this question" button........

It's not rocket science.
i'm not a doctor but whatever a doctor says.. don't leave until you are satisfied that he has reassured you (especially if you have any info that you have researched!) a doctor should not be stumped with any question - he knows he can refer determined patients to specialists in any field that he is unsure about.
A doctor may say any of the above (and still think "it's all in your mind pal")
A good competent doctor may refer you to a specialist and discuss other possible differential diagnoses with you.
If the doctor is secure about his/her skills may say that does not know the answer to your question but will try to find out
