Neti Not Working?

Question:

I couldn't get a Neti pot, so I tried with a container with a small opening that I could put into my nose - anyway, I tilt my head as instructed, put the container and try it but the water won't go - it just keeps coming out of the same nostril. I also feel a bit of the 'drowning-like' sensation. The water doesn't come out of the throat either.

Does this mean my nasal passage is blocked? I have sinus problems and usually only one of my nostrils are working. Sometimes I'm breathing through the right nostril, and my left nostril is blocked - some times it's the other way round.

Any advice?

yeah wouldn't a small teapot work??
i did get a neti @ a local drugstore (they're hard to find)
i got that drowning sensation too (hate that)
i also got the WORST sore throat & ear infection about 2 weeks after starting it
i had a hard time getting out the other nostril too, but finally did, i don't think i was tilting my head right?
but i certainly knew When my sinus were blocked again

Are you breathing through your mouth as you do this? It doesn't work if you hold your breath. I've heard of people using toy teapots for kid's tea sets as a neti pot by the way.
I'm including a link for a really good product that is available in most drug stores. It either comes with a plastic neti pot or a squeeze bottle. I'm also including a link for some colloidal silver info it's very effective for curing sinus problems without antibiotics. Good luck.

I would get a real neti pot online. the shape of it makes a difference.
It does take some practice as well. The first time I tried it I felt like I was drowning too ;-)
I have a bit of a deviated septum, so that may be part of your problem as well. You need to learn to control the flow of the water a bit.
