Anybody knows about a natural, effective remedy for insomnia?

Question:
I cannot sleep, I'm taking sleep pills like Ambien but that's not good, I have good health, but I'm going through this sleepless time due to stress. Any sound advice, please ? I'll appreciate it

I've found Melatonin to be helpful. Other things that help can be: getting rid of excess sugars in your diet, cut out caffeine, keep regular sleep hours/times, try to only sleep (or have sex) in your bedroom so it is a place of rest, if it's too light in your room put up room darkening shades/curtains, take a warm bath/hot shower before bed, listen to peaceful music/white noise before bed or when you get in. I don't know if this will help too, but I feel best when my pj's are as comfy as possible and I have cozy sheets (especially flannel in the winter). And since stress is impacting your sleep you can try to relieve it by: drinking warm tea, getting a massage, talking over problems with friends/close family, petting a dog/cat, practicing yoga, and/or (if you believe) praying/talking with God or meditation. I wish you luck.
Give homeopathic, Calms Forte a try. It's all natural. It helps me a lot. It doesnt actually make you sleepy, it just takes the edge off (stress) and allows you to sleep. Rescue Remedy is also good to take during the day for stress & again, natural. I'm all into natural solutions... Good luck to you & hope you have a great one!
If you have a health food store near by I would recommend purchasing some "pure lavender oil". It may run about $10.00-15.00 a vial. Sprinkle a few drops on your pillow. You may also want to take a warm bath with the several drops of the oil in the bath water. Also if you can drink tea, I would suggest chamomile or "Sleepy time" from Celestial Seasonings. You can also try "Valerian Root". It comes in loose bulk herbal form as well as capsules. If you don't like the taste of tea you should use the capsule form.
Good Luck!
vigorous activities before bed are great. also dont sleep too much, get up the same time every day and go to bed the same time. rozerem is the new med we r changing people to at the clinic i work.
Get yourself on a schedule. Wake up at the same time, go to bed at the same time. When you get up, go for a walk to get the blood flowing. Before bed, do something vigorous. Me? I've started playing Wii before bed. It's fun and I'm moving around.

Melatonin is good, too. Take 1 or 2 just before bed.
If you are also experiencing a not being able to get comfortable in bed, be sleepy, then as soon as you lie down your eyes pop open and there you go again-Try:

Any Natural Health Food Store, look for a product called "Silent Night" or something similar, it has Valerian Root, Skullcap, Chammomile, hops, etc. They are all natural I grow most of the ingredients myself for my own personal sleep aids.
The only problem I have with Valerian, is it not only is the most pungent smelling thing, it also comes out through your pores with that same smell when prespiring.
drop the meds straight into the garbage.

opt for some natural herbs like camomille tea before bed.
get alot of sunlight during the day and at night before bed, get 20 to 30 minutes of darkness, your mind will wander indicating your glandular system is releasing the hormone necessary for amazing sleep.

drop the caffeine, meditate before bed.

a warm shower i find helps if taken 90 minutes before bed

exercise early in the day is awesome too.

forget the stress dude, you dont need it.

get rid of the stress, WHATEVER it may be.

peace
