My drug test results ( showing benzodiazipan) was sent to a lab that say I show positive for oxazepam (serax).

Question:
I have never heard of serax until now. They sent it to a special lab to have some sort of gas test performed on it & broke down the benzodiazipan to oxazepam (serax specifically). Never heard or taken anything called that & the company closed the door on me. Very upset & lost! Never been accused of drugs before. They won't even retest. I have no way of proving why serax would show up in my test. What do you do next?

Answers:
valium was originally meant to be used as a muscle relaxer but began being used for for sleep and nerves. now, many drugs are a member of the same family of benzodazepines. xanax,ativan,restoril,librium,... and also serax are all basically used for the same things and are almost the same chemical. if you had any of the chemicals in your system they would have showed up the same because they are almost identical chemically.
You need to take a close look at WHO you have been around. Maybe this was ingested without your knowledge.
Oxazepdam is given for anxiety. Benzodiazipan is a tranquilizer. If you honestly cannot figure this out you need to have you doctor test you. And these are prescription drugs, you should not be accused of abusing drugs and denied employment because of it. Labs make mistakes every day. And Usually a second test is done.
I myself would look into hiring a lawyer. Go after the Lab that did your test, it is possible that they mixed up the specimens with someone elses or they have un-qualified, un-trained personnel handling the specimen. The equipment also could out of calibration, anything is possible as long as you know that you have not been doing drugs at any part of your life.
Definitely I would start at the Lab, go to your local city's, or county or state health board to see if there are any complaints against them or if they had any violations in the recent past.
Second, I would request to see my Medical records from the Doctors office or the hospital you go to. You have a right to look into your own medical records. Look at the drugs that were administered or prescribed to you in the past two years or so.
Third I would have my Doctor write a notarized statement stating that you do not have the drugs in question in your system.
That is what I would do.
Go getem'!!
If you have been taking scripted or taking OTC sinus/flue/allergy meds...you need to gather the boxes/bottle(s) of those meds. I believe Serax is a binding agent that holds several other things together. But, I highly suggest that you take those OTC or scripted meds you have been taking for sinusitis/allergies, etc to a DIFFERENT LAB yourself, with the receipt or photocopy or let them photocopy the original for it showing where you paid for them/it, get the results and then return to place that shut the doors.
If Serax is amongst those listed in the 'properties', but not listed in the ingredients section of the product, go back to the company that 'shut the door on you' with the lab's report that it was found in whatever med you took, and that you weren't aware of it, and if they still won't listen to reason, find a good CONTIGENCY LAWYER! Take on the original lab and the company-its important to CLEAR YOUR NAME!! I would however suggest, go lightly on the company-go after the lab THEY SENT YOU TO! If YOU SUE the Company, you'll play hell getting another job! Word of getting sued travels fast and although Federal Law prohibits details of why a person is turned away or fired- the only thing a company can say legally is if asked whether or not they would hire or rehire that person, they can say yes or no. But by law have to leave it at that. But then you're also facing a 'prove it', as the 'old boy network' has more connections than you could ever imagine! I was 'blackballed' for any jobs that I qualified for (Legal Secretary/Machine Operator Journeyman 4/TMS Operator/ Any Mgmt job) in the Southern States, by a shop foreman at a PHI plant, be careful who's toes you step on-they may be connected to the **** you have to kiss later!

*It wasn't until Crack became so popular that people were buying OTCs and making their own heavy duty narcotics with certain elements in the meds.
did someone slip you something? you are not aware of? those results do not lie. stop-think-remember?
Are you currently taking any prescription medications? Anything for anxiety/depression because Serax is an antianxiety med use to treat or manage this anxiety or withdrawal symptoms from an addiction such as alcohol. So, if this is inadequate information or you have some concerns your doctor could explain aswell. But if it's for a job, you just need to get a letter from your physician stating that you are taking the prescription under his or her supervision. There are diff names such as Novoxapam, Zapex just to name a few. Try not to worry to much but your questions should have be answered in a professional manner. Take care. Therapist #one.
