Question:
Answers:
They are to work with in 30mins. They are suppose to work all night, but for some, they don't.
They are NOT safe. They are addictive!!! I sugguest you take ONLY 1 dose every so often, meaning no MORE than 1 time per week.
DO not rely on them, they will make you sleepy the next day sometimes.
Try these vitiams/herbs instead melatonin and valerian root. both can be found at walmart. They say melatonin might be addictive but studies don't really know. They also say over time they aren't as effective. I used to be very tried everyday even after sleeping 12 or more hours. i started taking these and 2-3 weeks of everynight use, i no longer need them. I wake up in the am refressed and ready to go, unlike before. I'm even getting about 6-7 hours of sleep instead of 12!
usually around 8 hours. i don't really believe they are safe but would they really put those out on shelfs if they weren't? hmm.
Do not try them. They are bad and they not really make you "sleep" so to speak they just conk out your nervous system and does not give you the restorative qualitys of sleep making you crave more one you have been in bed for more then you care
Depends on which brand you try. Ambien and Lunesta work for 8 hours each. Ambien CR has a coating on it that wears off for immediate sleep and another layer that wears off slowly to help keep you asleep. Most claim to work a full 8 hours but I find that they only work about 6 for me. Lunesta leaves the most horrible taste in your mouth for 24 hours after taking it that made me toss them in the trash---it was truly unbearable.
As with any medication, use responsibly and only when absolutely necessary. I do not find that they are habit forming but I do not have an addictive personality either. There are some nights when I know I would not get any sleep without my Ambien and it has been a lifesaver. Tried Benadryl and other OTC stuff but they leftme feeling groggy and hungover the next morning. Prescription sleep aids do not do that to me.
I have found Lunesta is ok. But it is a prescribed med here, and more important-the directions say NOT TO EAT ANYTHING with it. Don't even- You had better eat at least a couple of crackers or a foldover either just before or immediately after! Otherwize you may be the King upon his throne...master of alllll he surveys for quite some time..
The testees used for this particular drug were the exception to the rule.
Personally, I just went 2 weeks w/only at the most 4-2 hour catnaps during.
Last night, I couldn't stand it anymore, my back was spazzing (have severe back injuries and can't get comfortable-especially when the weather gets weird) and so I took my last Xanax and then about 45 min. later took a dose of Nyquil (Cherry) multisymptom and was completely asleep within 30 min. and slept for 13 hours straight. Totally rested.
My Xanax is so low (not a 'bar) and I had tried just the Xanax as prescribed, but it didn't help....Because I am on Xanax my Drs' won't even entertain the idea of anything more than what I already have to take.
I prefer the natural teas for sleeping problems, but I don't want to be out in public and start sweating...and that smell from the Valerian comes out from the pores and everybody stares at that person like they haven't washed their butt in 2 weeks.
You take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be asleep before ya!
It depends on which type you take. Some are stronger than others and while some work for some people they may not work for you so you'd have to experiment. Most sleeping tablets (unnatural ones) are addictive/habit-forming. I have found that it's fine to take sleeping tablets in crisis situations but don't keep taking them on an ongoing basis because I find in the long run, they actually make you feel worse (lethargic and 'brain-fogged'). I have tried natural sleeping tablets but without much luck, certainly not for very stressful situations.
