However, because Reiki is used for many different things, I do not want those who can afford it and who are just using it for a relaxation tecnique (which is a good idea under normal circumstances) to try and sign up for my free sessions. I am looking for people who are in severe pain and /or have terminal illness. Reiki can be an amazing pain reliever. How would I word my ad in the paper, any ideas? I don't want to offend anyone, but I only have so many hours that I can volunteer and want to help those with the most need...

Don't put an ad in the paper. Go around and offer your services to people who live in assisted living centers. Go around to low-income old folks villages (like apartment complexes). That would be perfect. The elderly would definately benefit and most of them are living off social security or some other form of fixed income. Start with the elderly. You could do a lot of good there.
