Many things are being investigated; green tea seems the most promising. Caffeine in black tea might suppress the appetite as well.

Probably the most effective way to use tea as a weight loss supplement is to enjoy a good 2 cups (12 oz.) right before a meal. It will help fill you up so you eat less.
Herbal tea gives you energy [without the sugar] which in turn could let you exercise and loose weight.
Green tea is a really good appetite suppressant. It gives you energy too.
Green tea can help you to lose weight. Green tea also contains antioxidants that can help fight cancer.

i know a lot of people who swear by a tea called fortune delight, made by the sun rider company. a close friend of mine lost several dress sizes, and says she feels better than ever before. a lot of that weight came off her midsection too. she mixes it up and drinks it all day, but says it's most important to drink it after meals. no scientific evidence--just what i've seen people use and it appears to have worked for them.
Yerba Mate. It's wonderful and rich, a very satisfying tea. It perks you up but doesn't make you jittery like green tea or coffee sometimes can...
I have heard of Green tea twice a day will aid in weight control...c if it works for you..in any case it wont harm
only if you substitute tea for a meal!
