Acupressure or Acupuncture?
Question:
Answers:
Both are good. Acupressure is the use of fingers on the acupressure points all along the body, while acupuncture is insertion of fine sterile needles into these points. The effect of both are the same. The time taken to heal is faster by acupuncture than acupressure.
I practice acupressure and have had great successes in my patients.
Stress - stress is both physical and mental, you need to explain stress in an elaborate manner. Yes you can be treated by both therapies.
PMS is treated by acupuncture better than acupressure.
I'd go wit the accupressure. Personally I'm afraid of needles and that is what acupuncture is.
Why don't you try the acupressure first. It would be easier to endure. And you could see if it helps any at all before you actually decide to try acupuncture.
Homones can do wonders for PMS too. Have you considered using some progesterone creme the last few days before you start your period?
Accupressure isn't going to do anything. It is just going to put a little pressure on the points that need work. if you really have stress and a lot of pain with PMS go for the accupuncture. The needles are not a problem. They are safe and clean, and as long as you get someone good who has been recommended and knows what they are doing, you shouldn't feel the needles. I have been doing accupuncture on and off for about 16 years and it has been fantastic for some of my more minor problems. I have had needles put in very strange places, and other than the needles on the base of my foot, some place they rarely use, I have never felt any of the needles. They did the base of my foot only because I had a serious problem and I deal so well with the needles, and actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You get the needles put in and then relax with them in you for about 1/2 hour, It all depends on your sensitivity to the needles, I fall asleep immediately, then the needles come out and you will feel a little unsteady at first, but begin to get back to normal slowly, and the pain and stress should slip away.
Personally, due to my hideous fear of anything that resembles a needle- I would say acupressure.
I used to go to a excellent Chiropractor that offered both services.
Come near me with a needle and see how fast I can get outta there! A full warship of Berzerkers couldn't hold me back!
They are the same thing. They both use the same philosophies and points. THe only difference is that acupunture uses needles. And don't be afraid of them, they don't hurt. Just don't move around once they are in.
Going to a TRADITIONAL CHINESE HERBALIST will help you out. They are exerienced.
An Acupunturist has more education, also. They spend at least 4 years in school studying.
Acuressure can be done with a massage certificate and a 6 week class.
Both are very beneficial. But if you can afford it, do the acupuncture!
I went with acupuncture and it worked. Check out this website ;

Good luck
If you can afford acupuncture.. go for it! The acupuncturists have much more advanced, specialized training and that is usually all they practice.. so you have the advantage of the fact that they do this day in and day out.
Acupressure is great also. It's not as precise.. and you have the benefit of having human touch instead of needles. It's based more on using one person's touch and energy to facilitate balancing of the recievers energy. However, usually people who practice acupressure are massage therapists who practice several other modalities.
This isn't always true.. some therapists/bodyworkers devote their practice to only acupressure, and may have the same training as an acupuncturist, but choose not to use needles. Research and ask about training before making a decision
