Is it normal to take laxative pill once a week or more?

Question:
I have to take pills now -- fiber diet, etc doesnt' work. But I am growing tolerant of the pills & there is less effects. I have no insurance.any insight? Is there an instant poop pill for each day?

Answers:
No. The longer you use laxatives, even stool softeners the worse your dependence on it will become. Try taking a fibre supplement called Benefibre. Don't take Metamucil because it has a lot of sugar in it and causes bloating. Benefibre you can put in any drink and it helps alot.

Stop taking the laxatives, and go see your doctor. You might have Irritable Bowel Syndrome if you're constipated often. But the longer you take the laxatives the less results you will get and the more dependent you will become on them. Your bowels will become lazy. Please go see your doctor.
I would try eating foods that are high in fiber they promote the passing of waste out of the body.
why dont you try home remedies instead. They are much easier with no side effects. These remedies have to be taken first thing in the morning without eating or drinking any thing else. Take a glass of warm water and add to it half a teaspoon of honey and if you want just a few drops of lemon. Or Drink a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice with a dash of black pepper. Drinking a glass of warm milk just b4 bedtime works wonders for me. Or you can try eating 2 peaches each day. this suggestion i got from my doctor.
I hope one of these helps you.
There's something going on if you have to use them that frequently.everything everyone else has said is accurate, but if you aren't opposed to coffee, it is a great stimulant that will get things moving. The only other thing I can suggest if it's not physical is if it's psychological. Your feelings and your digestive system are very much connected, so if you're uptight, well imagine what that can do to your bowels.
Instant poop pills are available but harm your health overall.

Drink lots of water (plain water)..60 oz daily..if you engage in activity that creates lots of sweating..drink more. One of the jobs of the colon is to conserve water..if you do not drink adequate amounts, the colon will hold on to your bm until it extracts all the water.

Fruits/veggies, especially fresh, will help keep your bm regular. Dairy products (especially cheeses) will constipate some people.
Try Mona Vie. It is a 100% natural juice medley. The primary ingredient is Acai-a berry juice from South America. Mona Vie promotes digestive health. It is quite pricey, however, but you should, at least, try one bottle. You drink 2 ounces on an empty stomach twice a day. I have tried it with amazing results. I do not sell it and will not as I am not a sales person type. Because it worked so well, I have started drinking acai in small doses and I feel it has improved my overall health. I drink fruit juices throughout the day anyway. Fruit is the best remedy for constipation. Try eating prunes, apricots (dried or fresh), apples, peaches, etc and see if it makes a difference. Get off the medication. It is only messing up your system. Your body doesn't know what to do by itself if the medication is doing it for you. Medication has side effects and long term degradation of your organs. Don't chance a real problem. Start using natural ingredients to help your body heal itself.
I suggest you eat high fiber foods:
cereal: Fiber one (if you don't like the taste mix it with another cereal)
Lentils, black beans, peas, whole-wheat pasta.
Your bowels will move at least once or twice a day if you change your eating habits
There are cleanses available at the health food stores that will help you get back on track. First you do a complete colon cleanse, which can be pretty harsh--might be awkward trying to go to work. Then you use the natural laxative every day or several times a day until you are have 2 to 3 bowel movements each day for a couple of weeks. Then you start taking just a little less each day and your body will maintain the new schedule it has become accustomed to. (Sort of like the reverse of what you're now doing, as your bowels have become accustomed to only moving once a week and waits for the stimulant you are taking.) You take less and less of the laxative until you just don't need it at all. It's quite a process - may take 3 months - but it really is worth it.
no,it is not.sounds like you are not digesting your food.you may want to visit www.dna911.info and check out a natural supplement called PhytoBioForteSuper.it is a plant based digestive enzyme that may help you.
