Go to a health food store and get some neem oil. Most of them carry it. Then add about 10 drops to your favorite lotion and shake it to mix it. Apply it and nothing will bother you.
I have used it for mosquitoes, ticks and biting flies. It works great.

You might want to get some sort of parasite cleanser and take that while you are down there. You never know what you could pick up or what kind of conditions they have where you would want a bit more protection.
Just a thought.
Avon's "Skin So Soft",is a good one and easy to get.Deet is another that is good, but is full of chemicals.Lastly, people that eat garlic don't tend to get bitten as much,....mind you,U may not have many friends either! LOL
garlic is great for getting rid of mosquitos and it helps you sleep "off" is a good one and it comes in a spray can so its easy to apply.
garlic supposed to work
i havent tryed it myself. However my brother in law says to rub fabric softner sheets on yourself. He says they dont like it at all.
if you're just lounging by the beach/pool or reading out on your room's balcony, perhaps you could light up citronella incense sticks. I was in Thailand for a yoga retreat and it sure worked and plus because of the scent, people around you wouldn't mind either. Another plus, it's natural!
for something you'd like to apply on your limbs, body etc, try citronella oil/lotion.
There are many essential oils that are good ,lavender, peppermint, ylang ylang, lemongrass, eucalyptus and citron to name a few .You can also find them already to use at the health food store.
Because of the country you are going to ,I'd take garlic, B vitamin complex, extra vitamin B1 and brewer yeast. These supplements not onlywill they help keep the mosquitoies away but they will boast your immune system.
