Does fish oil help with IBS?
Question:

I know it helps calm the stomach and helps you 'go' more easily. So it would make sense. A woman I know cured herself of Crohns with coconut oil. Not sure exactly how much she took or whatever, but she went from barely able to function, having surgery a couple times, to just as healthy as anybody else. I don't know if it actually had properties or if she just believed it would work and it did.
notthat i 've ever heard always check with your dr. before taking any meds for ibd my son has crohns be careful
I have found that peppermint oil is good & so is coconut oil, but not sure about fish oil - but it obviously works for u - do u think that maybe it is due to keeping your bowels moving smoothly?
hope this helps
Pam
It depends if you have ibs-d or c. If you have d then no because fish oil can give you the runs. Calcium seems to help with ibs-d
I have heard that it does help.
I was diagnosed with everything from IBS to leaky bowel syndrome... all are really misnomers for a candida overgrowth caused by either the wrong diet or the use of antibiotics.
I finally got rid of it by making and sucking down a "green smoothie" every day for breakfast. Start with a serious strong blender, about 2 cups of water, 3 big fistfulls of organic spinach (blend that down), then a couple of bananas (blend that down), then 1-1/2 to 2 cups of your favorite frozen fruits (and blend that down). I like strawberries and other berries. If you do it right, you won't notice the spinach.
If you get gassy, put in a tablespoon of bentonite liquid to pull the funk out. You will notice a difference within 2 weeks.
Yes, take a good enteric-coated pro-biotic, too.
Have you tried a Yahoo search for "fish oil" + "irritable bowel syndrome"?
