How does epsom salts help a sprained ankle?

Question:

Answers:
Soaking a sprained ankle in a solution of warm water and epsom salts causes fluid to be drawn out of the tissues of the swollen ankle by osmosis(through the membrane of the cells of the tissue). The reason for this is because the chemical, magnesium sulfate, is an anhydrous compound.
it relaxes the tendons and muscles so it feels soothing.
what the guy said above me,but in lamen's terms...helps relieve swelling.
It creates a high osmolarity in the warm water and that draws swelling out of the ankle...swelling is excess fluid...
