The most important thing is to get right mentally. Without that you will struggle regardless of any technique. I used a patch I found by googling and found http://www.nicocure.com/?aid=984786... It helped, but you have to want to quit, I wore that for two months and it seemed to help my cravings. You can do it just stick with it, and get in the right frame of mind.
dont buy the niccotine gum. its expesive and u get hooked on that instead. chew regular gum, or ask ur mom to hide your ciggaretes
I see that you asked in the alternative medicine section, but I had a very easy time quitting smoking by using a prescription medicine called Chantix. By the end of the first week on it, I didn't have the desire to smoke any longer. I had been smoking for almost 20 years, and had tried quitting at least 4 or 5 times before.
I had such an easy time with it that 4 of my friends have used Chantix and are now non-smokers as well...
What you are trying to do is not smoke, the only way to do that is to not smoke. If you think that there is some pill that is going to end your adiction to nicotine you are wrong. Quitting is not easy and you always have a thousand reasons to have another cigarette. If you are going to quit what you are really going to need is will power. This was true for me when I quit and it was true for ever ex smoker is have ever known. I hope you do find the strenght to quit, you will always be glad you did. Good luck to you.
if you cant quit cold turkey, talk to your dr. about a drug called buproprion which is an antidepressant but studies have shown it to help quit smoking effectively.
First of all, congratulations for asking the question--that's a step in the right direction. When I quit, I read that Vitamin C helps with the cravings. I added a little Vitamin C powder (1/2 tsp.) to a large glass of grapefruit juice first thing in the morning and subsequently throughout the day when I felt the urge to smoke. After the first few days, I stopped adding the extra C to the juice and just kept drinking a glass of grapefruit juice every time I wanted a cigarette. I don't know if that's the kind of answer you're looking for, but it really worked for me. I haven't had a cigarette in over two years now and I don't miss them. Hope this helps!
Breaking any habit is not easy I can tell you that much but if you clearly identify this goal "to stop smoking" for yourself - for example: what is the exact reason you want to quit smoking, what can you do about it, what is working for you and what is not, in what time frame? Then you look for different options how to achieve it - are you able to do it by yourself or do you need someone (mum, friend or professional coach) to keep you accountable? Wishing you a good luck and success!
A Yahoo search for "how to quit smoking" will give you a wealth of useful information and advice.
my grandfather stopped one day all of a sudden. he prayed and then smelt his cigarettes and said ' i don't want this ' and threw it away.
most smokers stop by getting addicted to something else like food. it may be hard but i suggest on just stopping cold turkey. i'm sure you have enough will power.
maybe you could try brushing your teeth a lot. when your breath feels all good and minty you don't want to spoil it by smoking or eating. just keep busy and hopefully you won't think of it too much. hoped some of this helped you.
Go to www.emofree.com, find an EFT practitioner in your area, no will power involved, no medicaton, just deal with the real reason you are smoking in the first place. Too easy, but it works on so many things.
