Is there any natural/old school remedies for Diverticulitis?

Question:
My grandmother has this and it has come back for the 2nd time and she wants to make sure she has tryed everything before she has to make a BIG choice. (surgery) she thinks yogurt will help but she wants to know if there is anything else. she found the yogurt idea in a old medical book. i tryed to tell her that the book might be a little out-dated but you know the elderly!

Answers:
Aloe Vera Juice had been known to stop colon abnormalities and even reverse cancer. It's excellent for diverticulitis.

A shot glass full 2 x a day - keep in the fridge.

- it's not the yogurt that helps - it's the probiotics in the yogurt - she can get the same thing by taking probiotics (acidophilus is one of them). If you buy some make sure it's the refrigerated kind - probiotics shld always be refrigerated.

Both of these items can be purchased at the health food store.

She should always follow the advice of her doctors, but there are somethings she can do to help. She needs a diet high in fiber and yogurt is good for the friendly bacteria that live in our digestive tracts. Plenty of water is essential. Stay away from foods with little seeds like berries, they get trapped in the intestinal lining and cause irritation and infection. Google it for more helpful info. Good luck, Gramma.
Go to the health food store and buy grandma some Marshmallow root capsules. They are inexpensive and can quickly restore the GI tract.

Althaea officinalis-Marshmallow root
Reduces inflammation throughout the body and nourishes the Yin. Increases digestive absorption and heals all mucus membrane along the digestive tract, lungs and urinary tract.
Try a Yahoo search for diverticulitis + "natural remedies".
I have spoken to people who have had great success in treating Diverticulitis by taking a tea called Gumbi Gumbi from Australia.

Infact an ex sufferer is now growing Gumbi Gumbi trees because of his experience with this condition and the results of taking the tea as treatment for it.

Hope this is some help.
