according to this definition it may not be pica, as salt is not on their list. Although sodium chloride in large amounts may not be all that healthy for the body. A certain amount is necessary for good health. The body's fluids are 0.9% and that has to be maintained. When I was in the army they used to give us salt tablets on the very hot days just for this purpose.

If you google "salt craving causes" you will get a lot to read.
I hope everything is ok, and maybe you could give a call to your pediatrician's office ahead of time and see if they seem concerned.
im twelve and i eat a LOT of salt, but not that much...
Make sure to talk to the doctor.

and how about you keep salt out of the house?
eating salt isn't healthy because it puts alot of sodium in your body which is harmful, try to get her to cut down on the salt, also get her blood tested to see what her sodium count is
I am so sorry but I don't remember what it is called but the doc will tell you. Her body is trying to tell her something
It is called "pica." It is where the body craves substances that are not naturally part of the diet. It was common in the south when women would eat the red dirt or clay and it usually signals the body is lacking something (minerals in that case). Pregnant women also experience it. I do not know if that is your daughters case. Be sure her Dr. knows about it as it is not good for the body to consume so much sodium especially at such a young age. Good luck to her.

She is lacking zinc...Take away the salt and give Her Vitim's with zinc in them..
Maybe she does it because who need to eat salt if you sweat a lot when it is hot
she might have anaemia. i know my cousin was eating a lot of weird stuff when she was diagnosed with it.

hopefully this helps

good luck!
She probably has a deficiency. She needs blood tests asap.
