Any helpful cold remedies?
Question:
Does anyone have any ideas on how to feel better faster?
Answers:
Vitamin C, Vitamin C, and Vitamin C. All the time I get a cold I drink orange juice (lots of it), apple juice, eat oranges, apples, grapes, and grapefuit and I feel 100% better the next day. Besides this is the healthiest method you can take.
cold EZ and airborne
lots of sleep
Get some pseudoephedrine tabs from your chemist. You might need to show some ID cause people use it as a precursor to other drugs. Anyhow, this stuff will make you better. Trust me eh
There's some evidence that vitamin C and echinacea can help speed up the progress of a cold a little bit, and there are a number of OTC cold remedies to reduce the symptoms to a minimum without any side effects (like drowsiness, which you don't need). Talk to the pharmacist at your favorite drugstore about your situation.
Actually, my advice would be to avoid cold medications. They suppress symptoms like fever and cough, which are really helping you to get better (The fever burns the virus, and the cough clears up congestion. Obviously, if your fever is really high, take medicine to bring it down. A high fever is dangerous)
Instead, drink lots of juice. Eat soups and other foods with a high water content to stay hydrated. Rest as much as you can. Stay at home Monday if at all possible. Feeling like total crap for a day (maybe two) will allow you to bounce back strong by day three. You will probably still have a runny nose and cough, but you will feel much better.. Cold medicines will make you feel sort of alright, but then you only feel sort of alright for pretty much the entire time you have the cold.
Let your bodies natural defenses take care of the cold. It's much better at it.
If you still feel crappy on Tuesday, that's when to take the cold medicine :-)
If you can catch it in the first minutes, Elderberry will knock out a virus in 20 minutes. Unfortunately, if you don't catch it in the first few minutes, it only lessens the symptoms and duration somewhat.
So you have to have it with you in advance. Garlic is good, but you've got that job interview.
Goldenseal can be really good.
Good luck and be well.

Vitamin C and Echinatea are good remedies and immune protectors. ZINC however is essential in healing and a very important mineral. So I would recommend a vit C ech and Zinc capsule. You should be able to find a good one at your health food store.
Eat a healthy diet, try and make everything fresh and rest as much as you can. Juicing fruits and vegies high in vitamins and minerals is most helpful and will encourage healing and improve your energy levels.
I agree with MtnBlossom. In a way coming on of cold is good sign as it is indicatige of the body throwing out some infection. Medicines are of marginal significance As they say a cold goes away just in a couple of days if you take medication. If you do not it would take long 48 hours. As the doctor answerer says effectiveness of medicines is doubtful. There is noe guarantee that even the most effective anti-cold drug would be effective. One of my friends was undergoing a course of hystamine (which is said to be a potent medicine Mon cold but my friend was under going the course for something else)Wonder of wonders aftero the course was overM my friend got a severe attack of cold almost choking him.You should manage the exam. with a number of handkerchiefs. and get your interview postponed orask the interviewer to ignore the interruptions because of the attack. If you otherwise well qualified they may accommodate you.
